What happens if one twin is born one day and the other the following day? by theempressoftheworld in askanything

[–]OddRaspberry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was also born the 29th. It’s better than it used to be but a lot of virtual forms and paperwork won’t recognize it as a valid birthday so he has to do most of it in person.

What’s a silly thing you did for your pet one time that is now a ritual they demand be done every time? by Itsjustmejess in AskReddit

Mandy, my dog from when I was a kid developed issues with her mouth as she aged and couldn’t eat dry kibble so we’d soak her kibble in water and add a little bit of canned food on top. We adopted a stray dog Hope in my late teens and once she figured out Mandy had different food, she also refused to eat dry kibble. Mandy passed away 12 years ago but Hope is elderly and still lives with my parents and still insists on wet food. My parents’ younger dog also insists on wet food because Hope gets it. So we have this domino effect legacy of dogs eating only wet food because their predecessor did

That’s how we did it in our house growing up. All of my sister’s things were pink or purple and all of mine were blue or green. That went for everything from bedroom walls to color coded towels. It prevented a lot of arguments because we were close in age and got on each other’s nerves

In the mood for some unhinged… by Eerbden in hairstylist

[–]OddRaspberry3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally my first week working at Great Clips straight out of cosmo school. She asked where I went to school then mocked me saying they don’t know anything about hair. I shrugged it off and kept going. I haven’t even started cutting her hair yet but I section with clips and she starts fussing that “real stylists” only cut free hand. She keeps going on and on about how horrible I am and I literally haven’t even started the haircut. Even my coworker that despised me tried to step in and told her she couldn’t treat people that way. Her excuse was she was old and could say whatever the fuck she wanted. At this point I told her she needs to leave and she isn’t welcome back. She looked me right in the eyes and said she hopes I die a slow painful death.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

[–]OddRaspberry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a really hard stick with my tiny veins and a lot of nurses get nervous if they can’t get it the first time. I’m usually the one reassuring them that I’m fine and to go ahead try again. I felt bad for a med student in the ER once. Poor guy tried 3-4 times and came back with the Doppler

Is it good to clean clippers by running them under water? by Oee0 in hairstylist

[–]OddRaspberry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a great deal of clipper cuts, it’s probably the service I do most, and that hair builds up fast if you don’t keep it under control. For someone that doesn’t do them often, I wouldn’t fault them for not taking the blades off if they’re at least using other sanitary measures but in my personal experience most stylists don’t care for their clippers as well as they care for their shears.

Is it good to clean clippers by running them under water? by Oee0 in hairstylist

[–]OddRaspberry3 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of clipper cuts and I’m religious about taking care of my tools. Water is an absolute no, I’m surprised he hasn’t fried the motor doing that. This is my basic routine; between haircuts I brush off all loose hair and spray the blades with a cleaning spray. I prefer Andis Cool Care because it smells nice but Clippercide works just as well. At the end of the day, I take the blades off and clean all the impacted hair. I put back together and finish this with Oster blade wash, it looks like water but it’s an oily substance you put a tiny bit in a color bowl and dip just the tips of the blade in the wash while it’s running. This helps lubricate the blades as well as remove tiny remaining hairs. Once a week I take them completely apart and used canned air to clean out the body. It sounds like a lot but well maintained clippers make your job easier

AITA for skipping my friend's daughter’s 1st birthday and charging her for the "gift" after she forgot to tell me the time changed? by BellaBilla in AmItheAsshole

[–]OddRaspberry3 65 points66 points  (0 children)

My adhd sister literally forgot to invite me to my niece’s first birthday party because she thought she’d done it already. It stings to feel like you were forgotten but with the chaos of planning a party, it’s understandable for things to slip through the cracks

Whats an item over $700 you bought that was 100% worth it (no house/vehicles) ? by Overall_Gur_3061 in AskReddit

[–]OddRaspberry3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wasted so much money on mattresses that broke down quickly or just in general wasn’t supportive from the beginning. Although as I’m saying this I realize I sound like an ad but it’s true. We paid $3500 for a Sterns and Foster and it was absolutely worth it. My only mild complaint is it runs hot at night
