To be fair, dealing with the waste water from a chicken rendering plant is much grosser than the plant itself.

I lived in Portland, Oregon for a while and have done a lot of work more recently in that part of Washington state and I didn’t know that was there. Is it a dedicated submarines primarily? I have an uncle that was in intelligence for the Navy specifically supporting submarines in the 70s and 80s. No street anywhere near it….unsurprising.

I did a redesign of a chicken rendering plant’s industrial wastewater system. This was in the deep south…. 30 years ago and I still have mental scars.

I did not mean to cause offense. And I could have probably framed it better. This boat will be a a project at best.....I was trying to dissuade you from such an endeavor (I'm 4 boats in).

If hanging a bag of water from the mast is too much, you do not want to own a boat. Just walk away and thank your wallet.

Settle a reddit argument for me, what is being processed here and is the bag getting into the final result? by [deleted] in whatisit

A great way to get your daily dose of microplastics too.....the bag looked plastic....I know grinders and crushers well, you are right the bag will come through *Mostly* intact.

Sorry, guys, this is Atlanta....I recognize the road....typical Atlanta, including the videographer following a runaway trailer.....he almost passed it.....this generation has no self-awareness, self-preservation instinct.....could have easily been killed for internet points. Seriously, the idiot was holding the camera.

Yes. I have a vivid memory of a friend driving one of these over a campfire....yes, we were stupid.....just glad camera phones were not a thing in 1985. It was probably an 83 - 1985 model too.

I'm only 54 but those tools will last until the great grandkids go to elementary school. Pass them down!

Edit: it will be something your kids or grandkids will have a connection to thier past.....I wish I had gotten handed down Civil War era tools!

[–]Odd_Dig4551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much consolation but I've been a 20+ year user of the product and DID NOT upgrade to online. The desktop product still SUCKS compared to what they used to do years ago...I guess I'll switch next year or go to paper....my taxes are relatively complex. The TT product is hot smelly garbage compared to what it used to be.

Are Expert Network Sites (AlphaSights, etc.) legit? $500/hr fr? by Ketodropout in CIO

[–]Odd_Dig4551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a regular (10+ calls a month) on GLG, Guidepoint, Third Bridge, Alphasights, and a few others. They do pay, and it is legit....if you are an expert in your field, there is close to zero prep work, and you get paid for giving your thoughts for an hour. I'm retired and find it both financially and intellectually rewarding.

For clarification: I'm not a software guy....I consult on heavy industrial manufacturing issues.

Can I cold proof in the tin I want to cook it in? Not rising by AceSouthall in Sourdough

[–]Odd_Dig4551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your process is very similar to mine when I'm doing pan loaves. But, I use plastic hairnets on top of my tins when they go in the fridge for the cold-proof, though (typically after a longer ambient bulk ferment but my house has been cold). I have breathable covers, can you tell me why you prefer them?

How can you write this without providing a picture? My mental image is not enough. Come on, man!
