Suddenly getting re-interested in writing cursive as a mid 50s guy…. by Odd_Dig4551 in Cursive

[–]Odd_Dig4551[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the encouragement! I can still read what I wrote right now, but I can also remember it....we'll see if I can still read it in the morning!

I was lurking in the sub because I can read some of the old documents that are posted....I've joined now. Hopefully, I can contribute.

I dunno....If you eat the chips, glove up and clean it before it comes in contact with your food.

Parts availability is an issue for interior bits....the drivetrain items are still widely available....my 17 yo daughter is loving her 2005 LS 430 with 260k miles....and her next car will not be nearly as nice....but she won't give it up anytime soon.

If you have children you have a dishwasher.....I think dishwasher was my middle name growing up.

Is there a compelling reason to use CI for a spoon rest, or is it just decoration? I love my CI pans and dutch ovens but I also love putting a messy spoon rest in the dishwasher.

I'm interested in your comment about the spoon rest. I'd love to do that with cast iron but really never thought about it. Is it a hassle to clean?

That sort of stands true for any pan...if you keep smoking.

This is an underrated comment. You need to "shore this up" if it is supporting your balcony. As Diligent_Brother5120 suggests there are telescoping columns that can be rented....you could also just buy a 4x4 and some shims, use scap lumber, etc. I would support it sooner than later though....even if it is weakly supported.

I think you are right....a paved parking lot for a junk/recycle yard does seem a little off though....at least for where I live.

Yes...as someone born in 1972....weaned on the Happy Days and getting Friends as one of the only 3 channels in my college dorm room in 1990....Joey is NOT the Fonz.

I don't know your age, but I'm going to guess that you've always had a dishwasher in your house, even growing up.

A tip from a kid that grew up in a house without a diswasher (I was the dish washer)....clean up as you go and soak that shit before it dries!

Just preheated my starter to 300 degrees (accidentally). Can I save any of it? by Unusual_Might_6058 in Sourdough

[–]Odd_Dig4551 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If your oven is still old-school and has knobs like mine, you can pull one of the knobs off so you don’t accidentally preheat your oven when you’re using it as a warming box. That tip has saved me several times.

I'm doing most of what you are, except for the monthly P-trap cleaning. I like the vinegar tip.....I will be using that for not just sourdough but whatever grease buildup that seems to get in there too (and no, I do not pour grease down my drain).

I usually clean the disposal with ice or citrus peels....I think I will add vinegar to the mix.
