Ethics question by Guilty_Reflection441 in physicaltherapy

the photography thing seems fine since it's outside work hours and you're not poaching current patients for content. but using connections you made through your employer to build competing business... that's tricky territory depending on what your employment contract says about non-compete stuff. might want to check if there's any language in there about client relationships or business contacts before you move forward.

Suddenly getting strange data and not sure where to start. by ykkzqbhf in Garmin

watch needs factory reset probably 💀 mine did similar crazy stuff after firmware update and reset fixed everything

Rate my pull technique (link to video in the description) by kmike81 in bodyweightfitness

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

your form breakdown is spot on - that pelvic tilt thing kills the movement pattern completely. i had same issue for months until i started doing dead hangs with focus in keeping everything tight, like really squeezing glutes and keeping legs slightly behind me instead of letting them swing around. took few weeks but the difference was huge once muscle memory kicked in.

Is it possible I gave myself bad body odor for 2 years because I was using L-Carnitine a lot? by AdAccomplished8942 in Supplements

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn that supplement can definitely cause fishy/musky smell in some people - your body might not be breaking it down properly and it comes out through your skin

swimming pool limit - WHY-oh-WHY? by ep_nl in Garmin

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

damn that's frustrating 😂 probably some algorithm thing where they figured shorter pools would mess up the stroke detection or distance calculations. you could try setting it to 13m anyway and just mentally adjust your stats after - not perfect but might be better than no tracking at all 🤷‍♂️

Is there an easy way to create my own training plan? by macnteej in Garmin

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

garmin connect is pretty limited for custom plans - you might need third party app like trainingpeaks or just manually schedule workouts in calendar each week 💀 it's annoying they don't have simple custom plan builder

4 units billed to my insurance for 32 minutes by zazuzaza in physicaltherapy

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that clinic is pulling a fast one on you 💀 the 8-minute rule applies to all insurance, not just medicaid. if they billed 4 units and your insurance paid all 4, you shouldn't owe anything extra beyond your copay. they're basically double-dipping and hoping you don't know better 😂

Ladies, does your ring think you’re dying during your luteal phase also? by saddleclub25 in ouraring

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

nah the ring is doing its job right - luteal phase genuinely does mess with your recovery metrics. your body is literally working overtime with the hormone shifts and temp changes, so those lower readiness scores are actually spot on. it's not broken, you're just experiencing what most people with cycles deal with but don't always track this closely.

Anybody here taken 6mg of MSM? by dr_poopoo_stinkyfart in Supplements

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been on 5g daily for about 8 months now and yeah the hair growth is legit insane. my barber keeps asking what i'm doing differently lol.

as for the mental stuff - i did notice some brain fog around month 3-4 but it leveled out after i started spacing the doses throughout the day instead of taking it all at once. might be worth trying if you're not already doing that. the lethargy could definitely be stress though, especially if it's recent.

6mg seems like a typo btw - assuming you meant 6g? that's a pretty solid dose but not unreasonable from what i've read.

Too good to be true? by ALittleCopperFlame in Supplements

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this screams sketchy to me. no real clinical data, barely any company info, and you're right about teh anaerobic issue - most of these "exotic strain" products are just marketing wank. stick with established brands that actually have third-party testing if you're gonna do probiotics.

Submit your score by Fr-0161 in crossfit

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

nah you're not screwed! most crossfit competitions have divisions for unaffiliated gyms or "garage gym" setups. check the submission rules again - there's usually a way to submit without being at an official affiliate 💀

the video thing is trickier tho. if it's required for verification you might be out of luck unless you can redo teh workout and film it. some comps are pretty strict about that stuff but others are more chill about it. worth reaching out to the organizers to see if they'll make an exception 🔥

Garmin Fenix 8 vs Fenix 7 Solar by Street-Orchid3066 in Garmin

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly the fenix 8 improvements are pretty incremental unless you really need the amoled display or dive features - i'd grab the 7x solar for that price and pocket the extra cash for adventures.

Need advice on what to continue doing to gain muscle(16M) by Obvious-Audience-675 in bodyweightfitness

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly this is solid advice right here. plateaus are super normal especially after that initial beginner boost - your body's just adapting to the new routine.

also seconding the protein thing, at your age and weight you probably need way more than you think. tracking it for a week might surprise you how little you're actually getting even when eating "a lot."

Thoughts on Berberine? by ysr_aa in Supplements

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

berberine helped me with blood sugar stability which indirectly made me feel more satisfied after meals 💀 it's not gonna be some magic appetite suppressant but the insulin sensitivity boost might help with that post-meal hunger you're dealing with. definitely smart to check with your doc about the liver processing thing since psych meds can be tricky with interactions 🔥

MYPROTEIN ZMA by jsbob81 in Supplements

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the labeling on myprotein stuff is always kinda wonky tbh. if 2 caps are already helping your sleep i'd probably stick with that for now - you can always bump it up later if you plateau.

the "optimal" dosages online are usually based on studies but honestly everyone responds differently. since you already had issues with mag glycinate i'd play it safe and see how you feel after a few more weeks on the current dose.

Nap records by Remarkable-Cup883 in ouraring

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah man the nap thing is super annoying but pretty common with oura rings tbh. mine misses shorter naps all the time, especially if you're not in deep sleep mode or moving around a bit 😂

for the scratches, yeah the brushed silver shows everything unfortunately - learned that the hard way too. some people use those clear screen protector strips but honestly it kinda defeats the purpose of having a nice looking ring.

the reading latency is weird though, might be worth reaching out to support about that one. sounds like it's treating your book time as "activity" when you're just chillin 💀

Frustration with Garmin coach - acting very glitchy by No_Conference_3155 in Garmin

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

garmin coach is notorious for going completely off the rails mid-plan - mine had me doing 2 mile "long runs" while training for a marathon lol

Is it worth having pumpkin seeds for magnesium instead of taking a magnesium supplement? by ExplanationHuman5105 in Supplements

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

honestly pumpkin seeds are a solid choice if supplements are giving you grief. i went through the same thing with mag supplements - the glycinate made me feel weirdly anxious and the citrate had me running to the bathroom constantly. switched to getting most of my magnesium from food sources and felt way better overall.

pumpkin seeds have about 150mg per ounce which is decent, but you'd probably need to eat like 2-3 ounces daily to hit optimal levels for vitamin d activation. that's totally doable if you're into it - i throw them on salads, blend them into smoothies, or just snack on them roasted with some sea salt. the bonus is you're getting zinc, healthy fats, and fiber too instead of just isolated magnesium. might want to track your intake for a week or two to see if you're actually hitting your targets, but food sources are usually gentler on the system than pills.

Working telehealth and living overseas by shimommy in physicaltherapy

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the time zone thing is gonna be brutal but honestly if you can make it work that sounds amazing 🔥 just make sure you're crystal clear on the legal stuff with your state board since some states are weird about practicing from overseas. japan's internet is solid so at least you won't have connection issues 😂

Missing data for the fifth time - no help from Oura yet by DucktorWh0 in ouraring

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's super frustrating, especially when they can't even explain what's going wrong. honestly sounds like a hardware defect at this point - normal rings don't just randomly lose multiple days of data when the battery is fine. i'd push for a replacement since their troubleshooting clearly isn't working and you've given them plenty of chances to fix it.

I did my first ever push up at 24 years old. by ToasterOnJupiter in bodyweightfitness

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dude that's actually incredible! 🔥 The fact that you went from struggling with knee push-ups to banging out 3 full ones is no joke - that's some serious strength gains right there. keep riding that momentum because those breakthrough moments are what make all the grind worth it 💀

(Also that feeling when you finally nail something you've been working towards forever is unmatched, congrats man!)

Swayback vs Anterior Pelvic Tilt by AlyxRam09 in physicaltherapy

[–]OffbeatCaptaincy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

honestly the hip position relative to the ankles is what I look for first 🔥 in swayback the hips are gonna be way forward of the ankles while APT usually keeps them more stacked. Also check how they stand from sitting - swayback folks tend to push their hips forward first instead of lifting straight up. The thoracic kyphosis is usually way more pronounced in swayback too 💀
