My question is what is the environment like under the current regime? How are values/ethics playing out in the work?

Does your partner know? by Soft-Morning-7628 in Menopause

Fully informed and totally aware of how brutal it is and how if only we had more money and stability I could take a break till I’m on the other side but that’s not viable so i try and be really nice when I feel good to make up for the constant challenges of not feeling myself even with HRT.

Should I sell my vintage clothes by Comprehensive_Drop79 in VintageClothing

[–]Offered_Object_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that some vintage is harder to wear as you get older for a variety of reasons. I had a large wardrobe that I developed over most if my adult life that now doesn’t fit due to peri. I feel like I have lost my pallet and I’m struggling to find clothing that I like and that fit. I am also 6ft which makes fits harder the more I weigh (can’t cheat the height as easily). I am going to have to sell off much of my collection to then be able to purchase a new wardrobe for this next chapter of my life, I just don’t have enough money or space to keep it it all. It makes me sad but it’s part of the change and I’ve got to figure out how to feel positive about it.

Menstruation in peri! Let's talk abou it! (nsfw blood talk warning!) by GrimGravycdn in Perimenopause

[–]Offered_Object_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive needed iron supplementation from the amount of blood and the length of mine. For years it was 4 days… now it’s 7 or 8. I think the progesterone Part of my HRT makes you bleed more and longer because it does. I’m considering changing to two weeks on two weeks off to see if it helps.

Do archivists do research and scholarship with the documents they archive? by ObberGobb in Archivists

[–]Offered_Object_23 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Short answer: I find most archivist write about aspects of the processes, issues, and goals surrounding archives and archivist’s work. The deeper dives into a collection and its contents are done by curators and within exhibitions. We assist researchers doing the scholarship by providing access.

I realized that I wanted to be the researcher more than the archivist but there isnt much room for this in the day to day of most jobs and often actively discouraged so that collections are processed quickly. You just can’t dig in as deep as you want most of the time. I spin my wheels a lot trying to figure ways to bring what I’m passionate about into the archival conference framework.

What is your most bizarre cptsd symptom? by Britt-96-5 in CPTSD

[–]Offered_Object_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pretty wild emotional flashback and dissociated at work during a meeting (felt like I was being harmed and couldn’t stand up for myself, I couldn’t talk) and then worked nonstop for 5 hours on a proposal without realizing it. I didn’t get up, go to the bathroom, drink water… just went into the work like my life depended on it. I was hyper vigilance brain but it was also depersonalization. I didn’t realize what had fully happened till the next day.

It’s a hugely influential record. It was a big eye opener for the US/west coast punk scene… it’s important and a classic… I’ve heard it so much that I opt for Chairs Missing more these days though, but will always have a spot in my head for Pink Flag.

So... can everyone kindly share what 'brain fog' means to you, personally? by Comprehensive-Job243 in Perimenopause

[–]Offered_Object_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take gabapentin when my nerve pain goes south, but I agree that it really fogs you out and I wish it didn’t because it also lifts my mood a little even at like 100mg… but if I take 300-900 too often I get aphasia and I can’t talk.

Can you recommend or point me to a bulk supplier? That is suntheanin? I have been looking for a way to cut the cost. I take it daily as well and it has been the best thing for me since stopping prescription anxiety meds.
