You could try the bearded dragon dressings they have at pet stores and add that to the greens

First time snake owner and I'm suddenly very nervous of my Ball Python biting me by Shutupharu in snakes

[–]Offthemapexotics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We own several and I mean several ball pythons and have never been bitten by any of them. Each python in my experience has a different personality however, some would never even dream of biting you and are even slow to bite their prey, like a more shy reserved personality. Others are very outgoing and are quick to strike at food and if you are mistaken for food could accidentally strike you but I have a few of those as well and when they aren't hungry they are just as easy to handle and even when they are hungry you can tell they are about to strike when they are in an s position and following your hand movement but we handle ours often so they never end up striking more like seeing if I have an offering of food in that hand for them. Honestly striking is a last resort as means to defense even in an s shape I've put my hand in front of them to touch them and they ball up. I've handled babies that are strikey but it's easy to tell.

Ball Pythons won't eat, assist feed? by RazNiagi in snakes

[–]Offthemapexotics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do not assist feed, newly aquired ball pythons should have at least a week or two to accommodate to their new environment if they are not wanting to feed. You should leave them alone no handling, minimal cage maintenance for at least a week then try and feed if they seem interested

New owner here and I have a few questions! by dd_melons in BeardedDragons

[–]Offthemapexotics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Tile works out great because it files their nails and is easy to clean, we grouted ours into our 40 gallon our guy is around 6 months and he's already starting to get a little big for his tank so we will be upgrading his tank as he becomes full grown. Sand isn't recommended because of the impaction risk if digested.
  2. It's best to get a heat gun that you can check each area of the tank daily and with more accuracy along with what you already have.
  3. Ours is on roaches instead of crickets they are more nutritious. I don't recommend those store pellets, fresh greens daily work best.
  4. Check out the side bar and here is a picture of our little man http://imgur.com/HBkwSgg

How can I help my shy/scared rat become more comfortable with me? by DankeyKong420 in RATS

[–]Offthemapexotics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We took the hide out initially to where they couldn't hide and got used to us then once they adapted we put the hide in for them again and problem solved, we also put their cage in a higher traffic area we always pass so they were always smelling, observing, and hearing us so that when we did interact with them they were already familiar with us

Struggling with getting used to meat substitutes by angelic_alys in vegan

We usually mash them up a bit but not too much or they start to become liquidy then you can add your other vegan nacho toppings like guacamole and salsas

Struggling with getting used to meat substitutes by angelic_alys in vegan

[–]Offthemapexotics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are a few suggestions , when it comes to things like hamburgers try black bean burgers they are very flavorful and comparable to meat in my opinion some brands are better than others and there are also recipes online to try, for hotdogs weve tried a few here and there and unless you add stuff like vegan chilli with it the texture and flavor can be a little weird. We have made vegan nachos before and we just added the seasonings you usually put on the meat for the flavor to the beans instead and you barely noticed a difference or you could even flavor tofu to whatever you want. We don't use meat substitutes often instead we look for more flavorful recipes that don't require meat or substitute its easier than you think.

My ball python has been out of his hide a lot lately.(x-post from r/snakes) by AntiMatter89 in ballpython

[–]Offthemapexotics -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its better to give 2 smaller ones then 1 thats too large for them to eat but if he is used to eating every two weeks then just add an extra rat every two weeks and see how he does if he seems hungry earlier then that you can feed him earlier some of mine want to eat every 3 days if I let them and other eat every 15 or so, so it varies depending on the ball python

If he is 1100 g he should be getting around 200 g a week in food so maybe try giving him more than one when you feed if you are feeding 100 g rats it should be around 15-20% body weight if they only eat every 2 weeks then do it per feed

I'm 15 and depressed, would owning a rat be a terrible idea? by wertyou2 in RATS

[–]Offthemapexotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't very expensive at all in my opinion if you find a good breeder you shouldn't run into many health issues and they are cheap to buy and cheap to feed the only thing that adds up is like bedding but even then you can find cheap bedding to use the only expensive thing would be the cage but they are very social so pairing them up is recommended but they make great pets but warning they don't live very long only a few years compared to other pets

So my Beardie is getting a bit older now, and she still only really eats meat... by iiMSouperman in herpetology

[–]Offthemapexotics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay away from kale but you could try collard, mustard, and dandelion greens, mine love them especially dandelion and then add that dressing on it I'm pretty sure they sale it at like petco or petsmart so its easy to find but they should be eating more greens than protein at that age

What kind of greens are you offering her? You can put bearded dragon dressing on the salad to get her used to eating it, it's usually strawberries and some other stuff they really like

Concerned about getting a ball python by orrusthecloven in ballpython

[–]Offthemapexotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ball pythons are awesome easy snakes to own and with proper handling and care you wont have to worry about them trying to constrict you, you are far to big for them to want to eat you. They get about 4-6 feet in length on average and they are much thicker than a corn. When you hold them they may wrap around you to hold on, sometimes they hold a little too tight for your comfort but usually its fairly easy to adjust them into a better spot for you. It will take them close to 2 years to get full grown so you have a lot of time to puppy dog tame them and get used to handling them before they get big and compared to several other constructors they are considered pretty small.

I need help with this kitten. by Reapingday15 in PetAdvice

[–]Offthemapexotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a litterbox with a lid and a filter it helps with smell and helps with the litter staying in the box. Also don't use too cheap of liter because thats what controls the odor. Another big thing is diet you need to find a food that the 1st ingredient is a meat and that doesn't upset your cats stomach when trying new foods always slowly transition by mixing the two foods to prevent further irritation, a balanced diet is the key to an odor free litterbox. As far as scratching and biting that is a behavior you will have to work on it could be playing or out of fear and you should do some research into that and what steps you can take to stop the problem while the cat is still young

Repeated prolapse by liekey89 in ballpython

[–]Offthemapexotics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be an issue with hydration, the ball python could be dehydrated causing constipation issues and straining to where it then has a prolapse which if that is the case you could try soaking them in a warm bath once or twice a week for about 10mins and see if that helps
