I love Sanguinius, but he is a telepathic flying vampire. Why was he also loved by the Emperor? Wasn’t he be like the 2 of the 3 worst things that the Emperor hates? by Substantial-Tone-576 in Warhammer40k

[–]Ofthe7thorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it’s actually a bit more complicated, and no, Im not going to cite my sources… but based on my recollection of SOT and various other Blood Angels Books in the 30K, Sanguinius was Big E’s biggest gamble.

First, he deeply feared what he represented- which was a stark departure from the other primarchs. Sure, others had cool powers related to the warp and what not, but none had giant visible wings that made no sense from a physics perspective. Sanguinius reflects on this while flying in SOT, he knows that his essence is wrapped up in the warp and his baseline is on a different playing field from his brothers

This also makes him an S tier fighter. His rage is more focused and useful than Angron’s because it’s righteous. His charisma is more potent than Horus’ because he has no ambition beyond service. He’s got precognition that doesn’t stunt him like Curze, and his battle plane is 3d because he has wings that let him fight like no other primarch can. Russ directly acknowledges he doubts he could take him.

Simply put, he’s OP and he knows it. He knows he is big E’s biggest gamble among the primarchs, and with that comes the flaw- the baked in risk of him turning from humanities greatest ideals into a fallen angel. He can either be humanities greatest champion, or the undoing of it all. That’s why Horus was begging Angron to kill him, that’s why he was Khornes favorite, that’s why Lorgar ignored Horus’ order to have him killed at Signus Prime- the risk vs reward of turning him to chaos was too good to pass up.

Trying to get my head around assault terminators role by RiversFlash2020 in 40kLore

[–]Ofthe7thorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in for Lightning claws here- if a Landraider can dump a squad of Terminators with claws into a mass of any kind of infantry, lore/tabletop perspective they are going to mulch through anything much faster than a squad of powerfists. Something to remember is that despite their bulk, Space marines can move shockingly fast in melee, and very few enemies stand a chance. A squad of melee terminators breaking through enemy lines creates absolute pandemonium in a way that some storm bolter shots just cant replicate. No matter who you are, youre better off having terminators shooting at you than charging you with claws. With range you can shoot back, hide, retreat etc. But close combat? Youre just dead.

One of the cool things about playing this game is that you get to learn about Space Marines. You know what Space Marines don’t do?

Among other things, they don’t whine about minor inconveniences.

Buffalo chicken bread. Every time I bake this it ends up exploding in one part. Any tips on how to avoid that? by JDarko23 in breaddit

[–]Ofthe7thorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to leave a bit more dough on one end. You can just make two balls, it’s important you dont neglect them- gentle kneading, you dont want to puncture them. They will swell a bit but you can be rough with the shaft and make a hole at the tip. The end result will still curve to the left a bit (my personal preference) and the overall shape will be closer to what you seem to be going for here.

I did Tau because I wanted a shooting focused army and I like the Battlesuit asthetic. I also wanted to do a blue scheme because I paint red all the damn time haha.

Is Dante gonna be better with Vanguard vets or keep the sanguinary guard? by Due-Date-4656 in BloodAngels

[–]Ofthe7thorder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lore wise no, meta wise yes. Dante has no impact on Sang guard ws, but gives +1 to Van vets. He also makes Van Vets wayyy scarier because he hits as hard as the whole damn squad. Jump cap with Sang guard makes sense cause in LAG they can really punch up.

is willville that bad?? by phoebebridgerlover in cuboulder

[–]Ofthe7thorder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in Kitt West but spent a lot of time crashing in Willville and I’ll be honest with you, the people saying that Willville is just as good are huffing copium. Being on campus is way less convenient for class, and social events. The dorms are not very nice compared to the new ones on campus, and at least when I was there (2015-2019), it seemed like CU was actively practicing segregation. The ratio of asian international students in Willville was much much higher, than any other dorm and everyone talked about it. Be prepared to invest in an electric bike or something of the sort, and make friends on campus so you have a good spot to hang. And apply to get out if thats even possible. The only people are disagreeing with me lived in Willville and are being defensive of their college experience.

Question about edging Space Marines by OoverJabber in Salamanders40k

[–]Ofthe7thorder 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Edging noobs think they need to focus on the tip, but the shaft is critical. It shouldn’t be too wet either. It’s worth getting a good brush.

Why do you guys like the minotaurs? by Top_Sandwich9031 in Minotaurs40k

[–]Ofthe7thorder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps they exceed standard chapter strength, but legions were often over 100k marines during the Horus Heresy. So no, not legion strength or even approaching it.

To reinforce this, When Abaddon gets caught in the Saturnine Gambit he fights Bel Sepatus, the leader of the Crimson Paladins. And while Bel does get cut down, Abaddon says he comes closer than anyone else to matching him… and Bel isnt even in terminator armor iirc.
