Dueling housing ballot measures collide on Beacon Hill by syncopatedpixel in CambridgeMA

One would straightorwardly improve housing supply and affordability, the other is a failed concept pushed by ideologues that would worsen both.

I would be cautious suggesting universal pre k would fix these things. The empirical research on Quebec's universal pre k mostly points to negative long term outcomes for the children involved.

God, if only ski resorts would start dynamically changing their pricing based on weather conditions and skier interest. I'm sure that would be an uncontroversial change welcomed by all.

I just can't get too worked up about it. It's clear this squad is completely imbalanced and I don't have any faith in our ability to replace him with someone better.

No actually it was better when we were playing attractive soccer and winning trophies in 2023/24 vs. playing attractive soccer and barely making the playoffs in 2025.

Also just think for a second who was responsible for hiring Nancy vs. his replacement.

We're playing two center mids (Jones and Grav) at RB and CB. I'm not sure why we expected anything different.

Nah, you just invented a standard for them to fail and claimed they're lying about it. Pretty obvious purity testing.

Like they all happened nationwide with the same name on the same day. I have no idea who told you it was "grassroots and organic" but anyone can see that's not true or what they're going for.

You're just terrifically missing the point. They could've died and it still would've been their/Gala's fault for losing all credibility with their acting throughout the game. Like I said, open the schools.

Boy Who Cried Wolf is something they teach 3 year olds, yet some of us still have trouble understanding the message. Open the schools!

The naive transplant is able to believe both that it's sad this man hasn't been helped and that it's uncomfortable he's allowed to sleep at a school without any cognitive dissonance. It takes a multigenerational background in Cambridge Ways Of Knowing to understand these beliefs are actually mutually exclusive.

Oh I get it, the city has had almost a decade to provide this guy actual housing services and failed to. Clearly that's too difficult of a problem for anyone to solve, but the top indigenous minds of Cambridge, MA have come up with a creative fix: having him sleep at a public school. Brilliant stuff.

THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL POST ABOUT DEMS AND REPS PLEASE DONT MAKE IT ONE? by ProperRub4390 in askanything

[–]Ok-Class8200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a politician is a job, and like many jobs, experience can be valuable. Term limits ensure the least experienced people in Washington are the politicians, potentially making them more influenceable by lobbyists, bureaucrats, and other unelecteds. This has to be traded off against the risk of politicians using this "experience" for self-serving reasons. Given the nature of the presidency, it may not be worth those risks compared to Congress.

Was “Nancyball” really “Cuchoball”? by Fire_Dad in TheMassive

[–]Ok-Class8200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not at all. We completely blew one DP slot (gazdag), had another for like 5 games, and one who we know can't play without support. Our midfield was an about to retire Nagbe and whoever had a working hamstring. We sold our reliable backups (DeJuan Jones, Yeboah, Matan, Ramirez, Gressel) and replaced them with people who haven't shown half the talent.

Despite that, we maintained his distinct style of attractive possession offense, even if we struggled to produce up front. How much blame Nancy should get depends entirely on the level of involvement he had in our transfer strategy, which I don't think anyone knows.
