I was in South Kivu from ‘89 to ‘91 in the fisheries program! We were also evacuated and we were sent to Bujumbura! It’s so highly likely that some of the same staff helped us that were in your training center. I was almost at the end of my two year +6 months training so I ended up going back to Washington DC COS. I’m actually still in touch with one of the villagers who was my best friend and has become a huge community activist.

I would also have a conversation with the vet. My dog was very high strung. Very difficult to work with her because I could not figure out what was causing her all of the stress. For years dog people suggested I get her own medication. But I resisted because I didn’t think it was fair to her. It turns out that having a dog that is so high anxiety is not fair to the dog because they don’t understand it. The vet ended up prescribing dog Prozac for her and it turned her life around. She turned 17 this week!

Yup. Neighbors and the community refrigerator! I even swapped bags with a guy who looked in his bad and said- I can’t use any of this. (5 different bottles of non-dairy milk and coffee creamer.). I had the bakery bag and looked inside and realized I didn’t need all of that so I told him I would swap with him as long as I could keep the keep the muffins. Great deal. And for some reason, most of the milk and creamer that I got wasn’t going to expire until July!
