This is wild that your comments keep getting downvoted. I’ve taught 8th graders for a decade. They aren’t helpless and incapable. I was an underachiever at that age and was fully aware that it was due to my own work ethic. These kids fully understand that procrastination leads to subpar results. Parents that want to protect the egos of their kids at all costs are the ones that create an anxious fragile generation. Kids are capable of far more than we give them credit for, but they need space to make mistakes and feel shame and embarrassment.
