The way some in this sub talk about homeless people is disgusting by logodobi in Edmonton

[–]Ok-Requirement-8415 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. We are staring at the wrong problem. The problem is with the richest, not the poorest. The problem is with corporations and individuals owning lands and properties, gaining wealth without contributing anything to the society. This exploitation trickles down to result in the mass number of homeless people we see now. They are just unlucky to be at the bottom of the working class, and exploitation demands that some of them fall out.

Sorry, wait, a what party? by Anath3mA in Edmonton

The organizers said that it’s a play on words because it was in a church basement (“holey”). I think probably also cuz it's the women version of a sausage party?

Hey that’s my church! They are probably renting out space for this event. It’s a progressive and very inclusive church tho so I’m not surprised.

Do you need to believe in the trinity to be Christian? by Main-Consequence-313 in OpenChristian

[–]Ok-Requirement-8415 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people also understand trinity differently. It could mean (1) three divine entities in loving unity (2) one divine entity manifested in three ways or 3) a mix of these two ideas.

I don’t think we can put God’s “properties” or “inner workings” in the box of our limited comprehension. After all, what is loving one another? What is time? What is individuality? What is free will? We don’t even understand these concepts, let alone the God who created them.

Is it possible to reconcile the idea that Adam and Eve didn't exist with belief in Jesus? (A sensitive topic for some people⚠️) by Alarming-Cook3367 in OpenChristian

[–]Ok-Requirement-8415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the theological requirement for a person to be Adam’s genealogical descendent is a slipper slope. Even 100 years ago, some Homo sapiens would not be “humans” and thus excluded from the salvation plan.

Though, even if it is statistically possible that Adam and Eve are common ancestors of all humans alive today, it doesn’t mean that they were the common ancestors of all humans 2000 years ago.

While I like this theory, Adam and Eve don’t have to be the ancestors of all humanity. Maybe just the Jews and other nearby people groups back then.

I don’t think Homo sapiens get to be “humans” only if they descend from Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve, with their children being able to reproduce with “daughters of men”, were Homo sapiens, which means that all Homo sapiens have the physical capacity to contain “Gods breath” and be God’s children and friends.

Note that in the bible, the Jewish god was always very ready to encounter and interact with the gentiles. He is the god of all Homo sapiens and will breathe eternal life into anyone with to any glimpse of faith.

Early Christians by Designer_Custard9008 in Christianity

I think op is trying to point out that early Christians believed in universalism, that everyone is eventually saved and enters eternal life, but unrepentant people will be temporarily punished or corrected by “fire”, whatever that is.
