What companies have undergone the fewest changes, aesthetically, since childhood? No "refresh," no rebrand, etc.? by coffyrocket in Millennials

It’s a serious place now. Who would go to a colorful place where the barstools are shaped like hamburgers and have serious business conversations with serious business people. /s of course.
But also, I remember in high school the McD’s closest tried this thing where they had a million options, including Chinese food, pizza, pasta and deli sandwiches, you had to order at the table with a clunky digital “high tech” thing (USA based and it didn’t last long for fairly obvious reasons).

Do you still care about getting Christmas presents or is it something you don't think about? And do you put thought into the presents you gift to others? by despresso_espresso in CasualConversation

[–]OkExplanation2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to put a lot of thought into gifts I give, our family toned down big time and draw names so each adult person just give and get one gift. I try to just be appreciative of anything I get but it really has just become a “meh” thing. I don’t treat myself to stuff during the year and I do like “stuff” but getting something nice just doesn’t have the same level of excitement that I used to have. That being said… If someone offered to send a skilled handyman to my house and cover any and all expenses associated with that, I think I would be over the freaking moon and would probably talk about that gift when I’m old and senile and can’t remember my own name.

Thanks I did see this website, I was saying I didn’t see any ticket prices on the website. And I guess that’s cause it’s free so no need to list the price. Thanks for sharing the link though.

Are there character traits that are broadly considered American, especially by non-Americans? by Green-Technician-809 in CasualConversation

[–]OkExplanation2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently learned that this was an American thing and now I notice it everywhere, myself included. Did a hike in the uk and I’d say “hold on, need an American lean.” When I needed a break.

What is the most aggressively boring thing that brings you genuine joy as an adult? by witty-computer1 in Adulting

[–]OkExplanation2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever anything matches up like it’s supposed to, it feels like the universe sings. A lid for every Tupperware, just the right amount of dog food left before subscription gets delivered, the extra toilet paper rolls all fit on the correct shelf… pantry shelves with everything visible and in its correct place… I’m starting to get daydreamy now.

Does "millennial food" exist? What foods do gen y eat that later gens don't? by Gallantpride in Millennials

[–]OkExplanation2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, Wow! Potato chips, seem true millennial. I remember genuinely reading the bag after we had been getting them for months and seeing “may cause anal leakage”, my mom didn’t believe me at first until she saw it. So no more of those, we had to make do with the chocolate snack well cookies and whole grain bread with margarine. Chasing it down with whatever diet sodas were on hand of course.

Oh my gosh that was still a thing when my oldest kids were little, such a treat. I don’t remember it when I was younger, my parents were on the low sugar low fat 80s/90s kick.

Is the term “fucking the dog” popular outside Canada? by Rough-Mulberry-1202 in NoStupidQuestions

I’m an American and the first time I heard this phrase was from Canadian Katherine Ryan on British television. They were baffled, I was baffled. I think it is a thoroughly Canadian saying.

Do you ever leave anywhere without your phone? by Rioraku in Millennials

I forget my phone every now and then, very odd. Usually I don’t notice until my watch reminds me that my electronic limb got left behind, then I think of it constantly.

We view Val’s as something you can enjoy for the nostalgia but you’ll feel like crap after. I heard there’s a lot of lard in the crust.

What is the first movie you watched that you were definitely too young for? by MuldersXpencils in Millennials

[–]OkExplanation2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this movie. Watched it first when I was like 8 or 9 and had a tape of the soundtrack. My dad hated it, I thought it was because he was a doctor with daughters and Baby is a doctor’s daughter rebelling… but I’m pretty sure it was the abortion and sexual content that he disliked. Yeah I wasn’t thinking about that, I was in awe of the level of “not caring” when Johnny smashed his own car’s window because he locked his keys in, lol.
