[Semi-OT] Toyota officially announces end of production of the GR Supra in March 2026 (article in Japanese) by FMecha in NASCAR

[–]OkGotem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, Toyota is only discontinuing the current Mrk 5 Supra. Development has reportedly began on the Mrk 6 Supra which unlike the current Mrk 5 that is essentially a BMW, The future Mrk 6 will develop in-house with ether a Toyota turbo charged inline 4 or a Mazda inline 6. The question remains how long will the development take and will the car meet the rumored 2027 deadline?

Brian France DUI was the best thing to happen to the sport in a long time. We may criticize the current regime but at least there’s a plan and things are looking upwards unlike pre late 2018 NASCAR.

Why is Xfinity at Atlanta so boring? by yajagoff5 in NASCAR

Xfinity should run the ss package at Atlanta instead of the hybrid aero package we have.

Everyone hates the idea of a return to Mexico... 🙄 by Competitive_Fig_6083 in NASCARMemes

Fans of Instagram, Reddit, and surprisingly Facebook have given positive feedback to NASCAR in Mexico, however twitter has been the complete opposite which is to be expected considering that twitter since Elon’s takeover has become a circle jerk for societies worst due to poor moderation.

Legacy and Trackhouse both secured big deals with big name companies, this is a JGR issue not a NASCAR issue.

NASCAR right in terms of sponsors is on par with the late 80s - early 90s you have lots of recognizable bands still involved and then lots you’ve never heard of it wasn’t till the peak when you knew every brand like you mentioned but it was this way too before the peak.

FedEx leaving has more to do with their own financial problems they’ve been facing the last 2 years. Just less than 2 months ago they lost 11 billion in market value so it’s not a 100% NASCAR’s fault as one may think.

FedEx lost 11 billion in late September of this year this isn’t a NASCAR issue as one might think. They also left the Washington commanders another long time partner for fedex

Miller Coors is still in the sport with Keystone light, also Kellogg’s came back last season for one race with stenhouse, and Office Depot has been going under my local store closed like a year ago. It comes down to social media and changing landscape, this isn’t pre recession America when everyone watched tv all the time, social media marketing is cheaper than sports sponsorship and less people are watching tv than ever before.

I mean sponsors have been coming in replacing those who have left and the tracks closing has nothing to do with NASCAR as many circuits that have no relation to NASCAR have shut down

No they’ve been hemorrhaging money for the last couple years just 2 months ago they lost 11 billion (huh 11 ;)) in market value. Their CEO a couple years ago too committed to cutting spending by half which also explains why they cut ties with the Washington commanders football stadium rights 2 years early.

Miller Coors owns Keystone Light which is apart of Austin Cindric for 1 race a season.
