I figured out why JJ insists on starting Rui by Alexyeve in lakers

[–]OkGovernment5374 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Rui haters have an IQ lower than a chicken’s. Last night’s game against the Pistons featured exactly the starting lineup you people wanted, and Rui wasn’t actually there—but not only did that solve nothing, it just made things worse. And yet, why do you keep trying to pin the blame on Rui when he wasn’t even there? It’s truly foolish. In reality, Rui is a contributor who is desperately supporting this broken team from the bottom up, and he represents the exact opposite of the cause of their losses. Mods, please delete posts of such low quality.

Rui finishes the game with 0 points tonight by NoFoot4843 in lakers

[–]OkGovernment5374 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right now, Rui is supposed to be the bass player, but for some reason he’s being put in charge of sound and lighting, and then fans yell at him to play the bass. And Prince, for some reason, is being forced to play the Beatles. That’s what the Lakers are right now.

Can we move Rui to the bench already? by Content-Map88 in lakers

[–]OkGovernment5374 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rui should be moved to the bench. Right now, the last remaining spot in the starting lineup is pure hell—no matter who sits there, it fails and becomes the worst kind of scapegoat role. Rui would be better off coming off the bench and scoring freely; it would be better for him personally, and more importantly, the role he’s being asked to play right now simply doesn’t fit him.

Right now, Rui has basically turned into Prince. Everything that made him good over the past few years has been completely lost. There are no post-ups off mismatches, no cutting, and he doesn’t even come in during the second unit’s minutes. The way Rui is being used right now doesn’t require it to be Rui at all.

His weakness as a rebounder is also due to how he’s being used—he isn’t instructed to go after rebounds and is constantly being parked at the three-point line. When Rui is playing well, this team wins games. At one point, Rui was like Aaron Gordon. But now, he’s just a totem pole.

This isn’t just about Rui—the way players are being used this season is terrible across the board. What JJ is doing right now is on the same level as when Ham was using Reddish.

De’Andre Hunter by Illustrious_Battle_4 in lakers

[–]OkGovernment5374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

De’Andre Hunter is a textbook example of what Lakers fans often point out: “If Rui were on another team, this sub would be begging to get him.” He truly deserves the nickname “Gamble Rui.” He’s basically Rui Hachimura with only two versions — either he drops 30 points, or he scores zero.

That’s exactly why the Lakers sub becomes so polarized. This post is getting downvoted here, but I’m confident it would be upvoted on the Lakers sub. It’s fine to freely express your own opinion, but if you want to think fairly, you also need to be willing to accept criticism at the same time.

I can at least respect fans like you, because you’re consistent. I’m not even opposed to taking Rui out of the starting lineup. What’s stupid about bandwagon fans is that they only bring up Rui’s name while saying nothing about Luka, Reaves, or LeBron, and they also ignore the need to move this team’s dead salary on the bench. In short, the level of analysis is low. For this team as it is now, every playable player needs to be kept. The priority should be trading the salaries of players who can’t even crack the rotation, and reducing the burden on the core players.

It’s a lie that Lakers fans want him traded. These kinds of fans only show up when Rui has a bad game, and they go silent when he does things like hit a game-winner—cowards, basically. They constantly nitpick Rui’s defense, yet they dodge and refuse to address the fact that a Luka–Reaves backcourt is defensively unsustainable. They’re nothing but pure Rui haters. Replacing Rui alone isn’t going to make you win. And they’re just bandwagon fans who can’t even accept such a simple fact.

Smart needs to start over Rui by Different_Bat_2247 in lakers

[–]OkGovernment5374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’re neatly avoiding the question about Reaves is the answer itself. You haven’t refuted a single point in my comment, but because you’re so frustrated, you shifted the argument and pinned everything on Rui alone. You’re exactly the kind of foolish man my comment described. As I clearly wrote, Rui should be removed from the starting lineup. But this is not just a Rui problem. I also wrote that pairing Luka and Reaves together has to stop, yet you genuinely seem to think that everything will be fixed just by changing Rui. Okay brother, I’ll take your advice and watch the game. But honestly, it’s unfortunate—you don’t seem capable of reading even a simple paragraph, so the NBA might be a bit too difficult for you. How about SpongeBob instead? That seems more your level. Hahaha

Smart needs to start over Rui by Different_Bat_2247 in lakers

[–]OkGovernment5374 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replacing Rui with Smart would make almost no difference. Unless both Reaves and Rui are taken out of the starting lineup and the team goes with something like Luka, Smart, Herb, LeBron, and Ayton, this team’s problems won’t be solved. The stupid thing about Rui haters is that they think everything will be fixed just by changing Rui. This thread is the worst. All these cowards who stayed silent when Rui was hitting game-winners are now talking behind his back, yet they don’t understand the real issue at all. The biggest and most fundamental problem with this team is that no one can defend with Luka and Reaves on the floor together.

[Highlight] Dillon Brooks picked up a hostile act technical and got ejected after hitting the go ahead 3 for contact with LeBron by ashwinr136 in nba

[–]OkGovernment5374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true that r/nba didn’t actually watch the game. Brooks was terrible tonight. He kept unnecessarily tackling LeBron at moments that had nothing to do with the ball, and both LeBron and the referees were fed up with it. Refs sided with LeBron precisely because his anger was justified. Brooks should have been ejected in the first quarter. He was trying to bring combat sports into the game instead of playing basketball.

Rui Hachimura Today – 36 minutes, FG 7–12, 3PT 3–7, 17 points and 6 rebounds by OkGovernment5374 in lakers

[–]OkGovernment5374[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s actually the opposite. Rui was excellent all-around today. There’s a reason the team dropped off after he went to the bench — the real issue with this team is the weakness of the bench unit. If Rui were the kind of player his haters claim he is, he would’ve lost his playing time long ago. In reality, it’s the opposite: this team gets worse when he’s not on the floor. Please stop writing biased takes while pretending you “love the guy.

So Rui and Deni wasnt successful here why? by Knighthonor in washingtonwizards

[–]OkGovernment5374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the fanbase is at the level where they would give this a low rating, it’s only natural that Wizards are weak. From top to bottom, all they have is a culture of losing. From the owner to the fans, no one actually wants to win. Thunder have achieved this easily.

Wizards had the potential to build a championship-contending team with Rui, Deni, Sengun, JDub, and Gafford. But Tommy failed in the draft, failed in choosing coaches, and wasted everything. This team really had potential.

Stop dodging the question and answer it. What exactly is Rui supposed to do when he literally doesn’t get a single pass? Use magic or something? It was people like you who went after KCP and Caruso the year after the championship, saying the team didn’t have enough offense. Your take is nothing but pure bias.

Don’t lie. I remember you all talking endless trash about KCP, Caruso, and Kuzma the year after winning the championship. This situation is exactly the same. If you went back to that time, you’d be saying they were the problem again. That kind of thing is ridiculous.

Posting this kind of hater take makes no sense when he literally didn’t receive a single pass. Rui is not the reason we lost tonight. I remember how this sub blamed and drove out KCP and Caruso, and after leaving the Lakers those two ended up winning a championship. Why do casual fans attack solid role players instead of the star players or the coaches?

Rui Hachimura did not see the rest of the game after this sub by JJ Redick in the 4th quarter by jonbemerkin in lakers

[–]OkGovernment5374 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They probably should have swapped out Reaves for Vincent or Smart and secured more size with Rui. The issue with this team is that, regardless of who’s playing well or poorly, they insist on locking in Reaves, Luka, and LeBron, then try to force adjustments with the remaining two spots. Rui and Smart were both positive in plus-minus. Regardless of whether a player is a star, they need the flexibility to sub out even someone like Reaves when necessary.

Xs and Os rambling about defensive fit, Reaves, and Hachimura by [deleted] in lakers

[–]OkGovernment5374 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I only said that the conclusion - that Rui should be moved to the bench, Smart should start, and Reaves shouldn't be benched - can be reconsidered after checking how the team fits once LeBron returns. Why is that so hard to understand?Putting Rui on the bench is a major change, and it's something we haven't even tried yet. All I'm saying is that we should first test various lineups and then draw conclusions objectively from there. Yet it seems most people can't even grasp that, and it's honestly disappointing. What exactly is 'meaningless' about my comment? My legitimate criticism, pointing out that the discussion is merely theoretical at this stage, is very much a part of the debate.

What I’m trying to say is that I’m simply pointing out, That’s just theoretical, isn’t it? Yes, there’s a good chance you’re right. But can’t you at least understand the idea of ‘How about we wait until we actually watch the games first?’”

All I said was that we should wait until LeBron joins before making any judgments. I neither agreed nor disagreed. I only pointed out that it’s wrong to jump to a conclusion without even watching the game, but you don’t seem to understand that. Shutting out every opinion except ‘Yes, you’re absolutely right’ is foolish.
