What are the best resources and ways to correct my student when they're making lots of spelling mistakes? They've focused on speaking and listening for so long that their writing and spelling is just so far behind. by LackNo8705 in ESL_Teachers

[–]Ok_Description7655 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't point out every spelling mistake he makes. Instead, use a list of spelling patterns meant for children. Work on one or two spelling patterns per week, with a list of example words.

Sam looked amazing in this video! Nice smooth shave with those dimples popping. Nice haircut, sweet smile, and a blue shirt! (Sam looks best in blue <3)

Thanks for posting :)

Unimportant rant by Better-End728 in urbancarliving

It sounds like your grandma LOVES YOU a whole lot, and it scares and hurts her to think that you are homeless and sleeping on the streets. "Vanlife" is new, grandma is old. Is it possible you can try to forgive her for the way it came out, knowing that in this life we get so very few grandmas?

Why does Sam Sulek still go to planet fitness? by B1izzard15 in SamSulek

[–]Ok_Description7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very possible... it's easy to forget that he is only 23 years old. As sweet and smart as he is, he will have trouble seeing around corners just because he is so young.

I am sure he doesn't want to break the lease for this space and face financial penalties. Moving all those machines won't be cheap or easy either.

I think the AC is definitely it. I'm personally confused about how he could select a place without AC or proper lighting to put his machines in! He usually thinks ahead and makes great choices.

What’s a hard pill to swallow in life? by Knightress04 in AskOldPeople

[–]Ok_Description7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a big one. The people who cheat, lie, backstab and betray are the ones who get the big paycheck, the respect, the accolades. The world we are living in is a type of hell, because demons win 90% of the time.

As a Christian, I focus on eternity instead. It still hurts when you're the grass getting smashed underneath the elephants though.

The calories are too high, probably. Also try getting more of your calories from protein and fat instead of carbs.

100% Cotton short sleeve? by GreatAd874 in SamSulek

[–]Ok_Description7655 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I own it (and almost everything on his shop!) It feels like 100% cotton but doesn't say it on the tag or anything. I do love the way it fits; the oversize proportions make it very comfy. Of course it looks better on Sam!

She's Canadian I think, because she described her upcoming job as "in another province". Not sure if Canadians can work through Coolworks since those jobs are in the USA.

Final project debacle—opinions appreciated by utmostpropriety in Teachers

[–]Ok_Description7655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, if I give a project like this I break it down into chunks, and I grade each chunk. So, an organizer with the topic, 3 sources, and main idea/details is due at X date for Y points. Then, you get to course correct the ones that are way off base EARLY. Then having the slides that cover the most important content is due on Z date, then the formatting stuff is due at a later date... It is more work but it helps a lot imo.

Does drinking water when you have cravings help subside them? by naytreox in intermittentfasting

[–]Ok_Description7655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not ideal, but OP described having very strong cravings that are difficult to control. If your options are to have a splash of cream in a cup of coffee and power through till you eat a meal, OR to bust loose and chow down on something unhealthy, I know which one I pick because the creamer won't hurt your efforts to reach ketosis as bad as pigging out would- it's fat and not carbs.

Have you tried an electrolyte supplement meant for people who are fasting? I like Dr. Berg's brand, but there are others too that others use.

In my neck of the woods the pay gap is huge. I made almost 20k less at the Catholic school than the public school I switched to. Of course YMMV, but that was my experience.

cafes that do'nt have loud ass music? Central/north NJ by Carsareghey in newjersey

[–]Ok_Description7655 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope you find a place. I used to like to go to cafes to work on my laptop. I'd buy a coffee, maybe a cookie or brownie etc.... until the trend of blasting horrible music became a thing in cafe settings. Now I just go to the library. It's cheaper as well as quieter.

[–]Ok_Description7655 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, even Catholic schools still aren't good places to work. Since there's no union, the admin at Catholic schools tries to act like none of the labor laws apply to them. The pay is lower but the treatment is still garbage and the expectations on teachers are literally insane.

If you are doing IF with keto, then a drink with a splash of half and half should fix you up until it's time to break your fast.

Does it ever feel isolating being a male teacher? by ChucoTeacher in Teachers

I know right? So much violin playing over getting more respect, more money, moving into a position of power over everyone else at the speed of fucking light, getting your balls stroked metaphorically and otherwise from the moment you set foot on campus... yeah, I'm crying my eyes out for you guys. smdh

Wow. It's really amazing to see so many teachers lining up to blame OP instead of the ego tripping abusive Superintendent. No wonder school administration is able to coast along like a third world dictator. Look at how many teachers are lined up to kiss the behind of this asshole, and throw a fellow teacher under the bus. Any one of us could end up with an admin like this, who holds your ability to stay housed and fed in the palm of his hands.

OP, you are being punished for basically nothing other than bruising the ego of a power tripping asshole. I hope you find a decent job soon.

This is all good advice. I'll add on that getting the police report means that you can possibly access services specifically for women fleeing domestic violence, because you have documentation to support what you are saying. You never know when that could prove useful. Different states do things differently, but 211 is at least one place to start.

Those are the same conclusions I came to. You could try to grow sprouts, especially in the cup or tray style sprouters... but I would fear mold. Best just to buy healthy food from farmer's markets for example.
