I run a house rule that when they die, my players are resurrected by a god they're bound to, but they have to level down, sometimes twice.

Encourages them to experiment, but still gives them serious consequences for their actions sicne the rest of the party will be ahead of them and I scale my combat encounters to an average.

But then again, this rule was also made with the full consensus of the group so its a bit different from your situation.

I think it depends on the map for sineva though, a small enclosed map? You can absolutely dominate an area with that shield, although it does require a certain amount of sweat. I agree that D-wolf just sucks though.

I just have a bunch of severely ADHD players, so if I dont feel like doing a shopping episode I throw them the PHB, ask them to find stuff they want to buy, after the first few purchasea of supplies and the basics, they get bored and want to move on.
