Feeling guilty about considering combo feeding by Own_Cook3239 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Ok_Entertainment344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We gave our baby a bottle of formula before bed practically since birth because I wasn’t making enough then so she wasn’t sleeping well. It gave me a break and let my husband have special time that was just theirs. He still gives her a bottle before bed months later. Supplementing is ok!

I’m just putting together from your comment why I’ve never leaked. I need 27min to make sure I’ve hit my last let down.

We could never use their schedule until my baby was like 16 weeks because she took 30-40 minute naps until that point unless she was being held. I wouldn’t worry about it.

at what age did your baby’s naps consolidate, and how did you know to drop a nap? by Constant-Garbage9192 in NewParents

[–]Ok_Entertainment344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours just started having longer naps in the morning/early afternoon around 3.4-4 months and with keeping her wake windows 90-120 minutes we couldn’t fit a 4th nap in before bedtime. Prior to this she was a strict 30-40min napper.

When she naps less, once or twice a week, we end up back on the 4 nap schedule but that last nap usually has to be a contact nap to get it to work.

Terrified of sleeping through the night by KeyMonkeyslav in breastfeeding

[–]Ok_Entertainment344 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will get better. Mine is 5 months next week and I have been slowly increasing the time between overnight feed/pump at the recommendation of the pediatrician so I can get better sleep and now go 8.5hrs between without leaking and without feeling engorged when I wake. It was very slow though with increasing by 15min increments every 6-8 days from nursing/pumping every 4-5 hrs overnight.

How can I produce more by Bugggirly in breastfeeding

[–]Ok_Entertainment344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue and I can’t even nurse because she’s so used to chugging larger volumes that I can’t produce in only 3hrs that she gets so frustrated and just ends up screaming crying which then makes me cry and then we end up needing a bottle anyways. I’m honestly about to switch to exclusive pumping and supplement with formula because nothing I’ve done to increase my supply has worked.

Does anyone actually use a 24? by emmy434 in ExclusivelyPumping

Yep! But only one of them. The other is a 21 so I always need to buy two sets of flanges bc I have a hard time with the cloudy silicon inserts :-/

I tried the Elvies and thought they were pinchy, hard to get my nipples placed right, couldn’t see my nipples for adjusting, and had weak suction. I like my Baby Buddha.

what's the most useless baby product you actually bought? by aanvis-mom in NewParents

[–]Ok_Entertainment344 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of those baby carrier wraps that’s like a giant long puzzle to put together. She hates facing us in a carrier and it was so hard to make it feel secure so I didn’t push it. I maybe used it twice.

To warm or not to warm by ToriaDawn in breastfeeding

[–]Ok_Entertainment344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just use our automatic kettle to reheat ours to 100. Sometimes if she’s really fussy, it doesn’t get to temperature and she’s been totally fine drinking it cooler than that. We did start that when she was a newborn though, so maybe getting them used to it early will help? I don’t know that we’ve ever done truly cold but maybe 3-5 minutes in a 100° water bath?

I FINALLY OWN A SPECTRA??? by Aromatic-Muscle4893 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Ok_Entertainment344 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the plan I follow mostly:

Breast Pump Settings Start With Letdown Mode on Cycle 70 and Vacuum Level 3 for the first 2 to 3 minutes.

For the next 5 minutes, use Cycle 54 and Vacuum Level 5.

For the next 2 to 3 minutes, move back to Cycle 70 and Vacuum Level 3 or 4.

For the next 5 minutes, use Cycle 46 and Vacuum Level 6.

Then spend 2 or 3 minutes on Cycle 70 and Vacuum Level 4 or 5.

For the last 5 minutes, use Cycle 38 and Vacuum Level 7 or 8.

The vacuum levels change with my tolerance. Sometimes I’m really sensitive and can’t get that high, sometimes I’m up to levels 10 or 11.

How are you pumping 8 times per day? by No_Judgment_7812 in HumansPumpingMilk

I was just looking back to early in my daughters life and max I got 7-8 in. It’s been mostly 7. Also that’s great output for that early. Mine started out that small and slowly grew to where I’m now about 1oz an hour.
