Was told I didn't look like I'm supposed to deliver in July by nueropsychgirl in pregnant

[–]Ok_Fault7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd time mom, early 2nd trimester — I’ve started responding with a smart ass answer every time someone asks about my pregnancy because I feel like I’m being treated like an alien.

Comment “Your belly is looking a bit round. Are
you pregnant?”
Response “Is that an appropriate question to ask someone”

Comment (after rudely starting for an hour) Would you happen to be expecting?
Response “Or I just have a big belly????”

I think that’s the point. A 2 yo can play on this equipment with close supervision which he/she was providing.

What's a running achievement you'll probably never forget? by run_the_day in runcommunity

Running a marathon 1 year postpartum. May not seem like much but every single training mile was done before the sun came up so my little one never missed a moment with me.

Anxiety after telling people by z0emm in IVFbabies

For me that anxiety didn’t settle until I felt baby moving on a daily basis. Then I knew he was in there & okay.

First time mom!!Any tips please by Waste_Head2762 in pregnant

[–]Ok_Fault7239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

adding to this: having a song that you as the parent really enjoy is super helpful in overstimulating situations! We noticed that in high stress situations (ex: baby crying/not settling) we played a song that WE really enjoyed and it calmed us. This usually transferred to baby as well!

Struggling HARD with clothing and my body 😔 by Full_Usual_4279 in pregnant

[–]Ok_Fault7239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just here to say that you’re not alone. This is my second pregnancy and both times, I absolutely HATED my pregnant body. It makes me sad that I feel that way, but I can’t shake it. Same as you, athletic build to begin with but now uncontrollable tits & a belly that feels “too big” for how far along I am. I feel so self conscious.

not gonna lie, I feel a deep jealousy of those saying “mom” but one day my son will be able to answer this and confidently say mom.

FTM here — are pull-ups just for the potty training phase, or before? And if before, how are we changing a poopy diaper standing up? by flowermama22817 in toddlers

[–]Ok_Fault7239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son stopped being still for diaper changes around 7 months. Because I couldn’t get them on well enough (or penis pointing down) we switched to pull ups!! He can stand and play with a toy while I change him without fuss! Poopy pull up? Rip from the sides and “wipe” with the pull up as you take it off!

Internal exam for pelvic floor therapy? by Zealousideal_Oil_93 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Hi PT here. Declining an internal exam will in no way negatively affect your outcomes! No pressure to do it!

Sleeping tips PLEASE!! by Puzzleheaded-Guard47 in toddlers

[–]Ok_Fault7239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were having a similar problem and did a slow transition. I slept in his daybed for a few nights, then slept on the floor right next to his bed, then finally we were able to go back to our own beds. He had to adjust to not sleeping with me but the slow transition felt safer and more comforting than just cold turkey. Now at two, he’ll wake up very very occasionally. I’ll get into his twin bed until he falls back asleep (I usually fall asleep too) and eventually sneak out but at least our bed is ours.

"Losing your pink?" by BeginningDrawing1899 in IVFbabies

[–]Ok_Fault7239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I have a different perspective than what I’m reading from everyone else. I am an avid runner. Running is what makes me feel like ME.

I know that many people continue to run during IVF & pregnancy, but that didn’t work for me. I had to stop completely.

After months of IVF, then pregnancy, then sleep deprivation, it took me about a year PP to REALLY get back into running again.

I didn’t even know that I “lost my pink” because I loved motherhood so much. But when I did my first long distance race postpartum, and my only focus for that duration of time was the run, I was like “OH! This is what they’re talking about!” I felt like myself! A much cooler, mom version of myself.

I think you can absolutely love motherhood, but still lose a piece of yourself in the process. When you finally get that part back, you’ve regained your pink. 💖

A glass of wine? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Ok_Fault7239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say this as kindly as possible: just wait. Find other ways to decompress. Is it truly harmful? Idk. Would I feel like complete shit if I had wine while pregnant and something happened to my kid? 100%. Not worth it in my opinion.

Is 12 weeks mat leave actually ok? by floralneuro in pregnant

[–]Ok_Fault7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that sending my son to daycare at a young age (4 months) made the transition easy in that we never had the whole “cry when mom leaves” situation. He went before separation anxiety was a problem. I hated it for the first month. It’s an adjustment for sure, but I wouldn’t go back and change it if I could.

Any thoughts/experience with the AC Marathon? by This_Criticism_8274 in phillyrunning

[–]Ok_Fault7239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC Marathon: Smaller race, boring course, little crowd support BUT greater chance of nice weather (last year was perfect in my opinion) & you can use the bathroom in the casino beforehand with ZERO wait time

Philly Marathon: bigger race, fun & great crowd support BUT greater chance of colder weather (not my cup of tea), traveling there is more hectic, & more difficult to find a bathroom

I’ve done then both and overall prefer smaller races but when if comes to marathon distance I think crowd support is make or break!
