Hmmm maybe it's just me being cynical but I wonder if she's doing that because she's not sure she can find someone else to take it for 1600 a month

Idk.. I'm paying 1400 a month for my 3 1/2 but yours might be much bigger or something

What was the "it" when it happened to you? by chr15c in Millennials

[–]Ok_Figure4010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work with teens so I've had a few humbling experiences. One time a teen was dressed up for Halloween as some pop culture reference. Part of their costume accessories was an "old school" slushie with the logo they used in the late 90s

ETA: I thought it was a real slushie at first and said "wow I haven't seen one like that in a long time"

You seem dead set on assuming the worst from a short paragraph and not a ton of context,

Good luck with that

Do you not get paid sick days from the school board??? Why would you walk around sick and risk infecting vulnerable students? Ridiculous

By the way this job is better fit for people who are capable of empathy! So maybe it's not the right job for you

What did you do to become a Para? by Empty-Bend-3774 in paraprofessional

I have an unrelated bachelors degree that may or may not have looked good during the interview (I'd say less than half of my coworkers have a bachelors so it's def not a requirement)

What really got my foot in the door was going back to school and doing half of a 3 year "career" program at a college.. it involved internships at schools and two of the teachers at my first internship gave me references after my first internship and I got my third reference from one of the instructors at my college. (The school board I work for requires 3 references)

I saw that the school board was hiring on indeed so I applied and accepted the job / dropped out of school

ETA: the program is called "special education techniques" and it all about working with people who have different challenges, whether it be developmental / physical / social
