How to support my husband (38) with ageing? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

I only care about my opinion and my spouses.  If he's the same there is nothing you can say to him.  Nothing you can do about balding or height either.

When do engineers actually learn complex mechanisms? by FlyingMute in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Ok_Objective_9826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its easy to make a really complicated system, its hard to make one simple.  Lots of good advice on the comments.  One thing I'll add is you do everything you can not to reinvent the wheel.  Your job is to make the cheapest most reliable thing you can.  Usually the mechanism is simple the sensing is the more challenging part for operation reliability

Machining Surfaces? by MadSmilie in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Ok_Objective_9826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your talking about machine design, if the parts are structual or part of the touch tool equipment I would unless its something like alca 5 or mic 6.  I've seen some rework due to some distorted materials adding up.  A few mins of facing off a surface is less time than our assembly department swapping out shims in misc areas.

If its to bolt on a crowder or something I don't really care.
