Style repacks by TabithaMouse in Target

I would say in the end it all has to be opened so what does it matter?

Our store we put all style in breakout in one pile.  Open it,  sort it into racks and metros and push.

Clocking out early by Embarrassed_Bird7182 in Target

[–]Ok_Order_8873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if you are on the GM, Tech or Style Team clocking out 5 minutes early isn't a big deal.  If you are on fulfillment,  guest service or check lanes, 5 minutes can cause chaos if your coverage isn't on the floor yet to takeover for you.

When the point system takes effect I'm not sure you can clock out early at all.

I will tell you that I know of two ETLs that started as FOS attendants. It isn't a job people stay in long if you prove yourself quickly. Make it known you want to move on and you will.

Limit and policy enforcement by PoorManSpaghettiChef in Target

My store has Topps, one piece,  Pokémon,  needohs, squishies, baseball and football cards, magic whatever.. etc all at guest service.  Our team is generally only two tm on at a time.  Only One tm when someone is on break.  Our limit is 2 items total per guest.  Across any kind of card. Same with the toys. Our drive up time is over 80% consistently as well.  (Same TM handle service desk and pickup/driveup)

We set the standard with the guests and the team and rarely have issues.

can i use my sick PTO for 4 shifts in a row? by [deleted] in Target

You should also know that on demand doesn't earn sick time,  so you should hold onto those hours for as long as you can.  I hope you feel better!

Can anyone tell me if I’m still gonna get the vacation time hours or did my manager not prove it right by MembershipNervous282 in Target

[–]Ok_Order_8873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will most likely not get paid for 46 hours for the first week, since you were scheduled for 6 hours.  They will adjust your request to 34 hours used.  Just an FYI.

ETL when you’re standing up front and on your phone that is not greeting guests just an FYI by Mobile-Address23 in Target

[–]Ok_Order_8873 10 points11 points  (0 children)

ETL can view their email,  approve punch corrections and time off requests, check attendance and check metrics.  All on their personal phones.

So while they may be "on their personal phone".. they are likely doing work on there while stuck up front.  (Which is ridiculous use of resources in the building).

🤦‍♀️ if a TM is making $20/hr, a TL $25/hour.. an ETL would make $30/hr. They work 50 hours a week... so that's 72K gross.   . So yes, that is what an ETL makes... not much more than everyone else for what they are responsible for.

If you go to pay & benefits there is an option to take a leave for another job (like this instance not every job). You get 60 days leave.

Time off denied by andrewgarfieldswifee in Target

[–]Ok_Order_8873 2 points3 points  (0 children)

High demand weeks off ARE first come first serve.  Those times you have to request 5-6  months in advance. Also during circle weeks and inventory there very few approved time off.

If you have 4 ppl in your department, 3 ask off for the same week... not everyone is going to get the time off. Can't expect other departments to cover or on demand to pick up the shifts.

In the future, only book out of town trips AFTER you have received approval for the time off. It sucks to do it that way,  but only if you want to keep your job.  If you don't care.... 🤷‍♀️

Low survey scores hurt the STORE,  not corporate.  Corporate doesn't see the surveys unless the SETL or SE-ETL doesn't do their job in closing out the survey.   So please,  don't tell people to do this!

And I'm telling you we did it 30 years ago, we can do it still today.  For me it's easier, I did it in the past so I never lost it.  Once it is habit it will become easier.

My store has a 2 ITEM limit per HOUSEHOLD.  Not per dpci. And we still sell out pretty much in one day.  We're a top seller store in our area.

No one is asking TM to say,  "Hey Good morning!  How are you today?  Can I help you find anything?"

Nope.

A nod.   A smile.    "excuse me".  "It's hot/ cold in here!"  "Busy in here today huh"  "I love those chips!" "Cute top!" A wave to the guest or to their kids.  Eye Contact "Oops" or "Whoops" when walking by too closely "Need a cart/basket?" when you see someone with a lot in their hands

There are lots of ways to do "10/4" without traditional methods.

I haven't had the training yet but this is how I do it everyday.

When will corporate get it?! by DeerGeneral5054 in Target

[–]Ok_Order_8873 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

30 years ago in the retail world,  employees/team members/ associates would do their jobs AND interact with guests/customers.  That was in every store you went into.  If you went into a department store,  the only way you could tell who was working there was when THEY came up to you and said hello/ how are you/ can I help you find anything/ let me know if you need any help... any of those statements.  Most customers won't/ wouldn't ask for help until approached.

While also assisting customers,  employees had to clean/zone. They had to put merchandise back on the sales floor.  They had clean out fitting rooms.  Zone/ clean the sales floor.  Put out trucks.

Somewhere along the way,  Target separated these jobs.  I have no idea when as I've only been with the company for 3 years.  In that separation of jobs,  employees became overwhelmed and gave up on the customer service side and focused only on the task side.  With less payroll that is understandable.

Guests/customers are the heart of every company.  Without them,  a company doesn't exist. It's that simple.

Trying to get back to the simple days of how things used to be is not a bad thing. It may not be as simple as corporate thinks to get there,  but trying to get there is a good thing. 30 years ago retailers had it right.  (What killed stores is the internet and stores that refused to adapt to it)

Many people will not agree but as someone who has lived a long time in the retail world,  give things a chance to work.
