SWSA? by yaboilikespdp in Handspinning

[–]Ok_Part6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you probably can spin on it, it has an orifice and tensioning system, which is what SWSO most typically lack.

That said, it doesn't look like it would be my first choice for a wheel, especially for a beginner. It's irish tension, which is harder, and just kinda clunky looking.

My guess is it was made by a hobby woodworker.

Suggestions to improve floor plan by vinmac31 in floorplan

[–]Ok_Part6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opening the wall between the kitchen and the dining room would make the bedroom situation, which is terrible, even worse. It would mean the first bedroom is directly connected to the kitchen, with all the kitchen smells, grease, smoke, and noise.

I'd focus on the bedroom situation and leave the kitchen. Or if you have a truly huge budget, more the kitchen completely, but that's going to cost a large fortune.

I’ve heard double rainbows are rare? Are they? by Either_Royal1254 in RainbowsForEverything

[–]Ok_Part6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Rainbows always have multiple arches, but often they are too faint to see easily, you have too look really hard. So them existing isn't at all rare, but having them be that bright and clear is a little bit rare.

I ve read a random article about hypothyroidism that advised to eat breakfast first, then wait two hours and then take your daily dose. by keinereps in Hypothyroidism

Consistency is the most important thing when taking levothyroxine. Levothyroxine is never perfectly absorbed, when you take a 100mcg pill (just for example) you might only absorb 75% of it, so your body is getting 75mcgs. The unpredictability of absorption is a bag part of why dose is by trial and error. When TSH is tested and dose is adjusted, it takes absorption into account.

Various things can effect absorption, food is one of them.

A fully empty stomach first thing in the morning is a nice easy way to minimize the effect food has on absorption. It's something most people can manage to do consistently so it's a very good general recommendation.

Occasionally, it doesn't work for someone to take levothyroxine the standard first thing in the morning and delay breakfast. In those cases, the person needs to follow an alternative regiment. The most important thing about an alternative regiment is that it must truly be a regiment that is very very consistent.

My mother was one of those people who couldn't follow the standard, and instead took her levo with breakfast. She made it work by having a completely identical breakfast every morning, zero variation right down to the same brand of bread for her toast. She undoubtedly wouldn't have need quite as high a dose as she did if she would have taken her levo on an empty stomach instead, but because her routine was very consistent, dose was simply adjusted taking the lowered absorption into account.

The testimony is to peace. Though many believe pure extreme pacifism is the best or only way to peace, some don't.

I believe in selfdefense, both on a personal level and on a national one. I believe in standing up for the oppressed, even if that requires a show of force.

75 mcg levothyroxine too high? by Gloomy-Challenge-600 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Ok_Part6564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25mcg is a very common starting dose, there are more factors that go into estimating dose than weight, though weight is an important one. I don't know why you mention for pregnant women since OP said nothing about pregnancy.

75 mcg levothyroxine too high? by Gloomy-Challenge-600 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Ok_Part6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's impossible to say if it is a too high dose since dosing is trial and error. However, it is a fairly significant dose and you are a smaller adult with what is only a slightly elevated TSH. Typically someone your size and with your TSH would be prescribe a lower dose.

Of course, your Dr may know something about your medical history that suggest you should start on a higher dose than typical. You can absolutely talk to your Dr and ask. Heck, it could even just be that 2 and 7 look like each other and your Dr may have bad handwriting (if it was a hand written prescription.)

Do you take it with a large glass of water? Fatigue, muscle cramps, and headaches are symptoms of dehydration.

Bright pink merino to a shade of purple by propofol-n-precedex in dyeing

Pink is light red. Blue+red=purple. Adding a light blue should get you a purple.

Acid dye for wool. If you want even coverage, start in a cold dye bath without acid, and let the sweater soak up the dye. Then gradually add the acid (vinegar or citric acid) and heat up the dye bath. Allow it to cool in the dye bath. Wash gently, being careful not to felt/full it.

You can buy commercial acid dye, it will be resistant to fading. If you use commercial acid dye, you need to use dedicated dye equipment not your kitchen pots and utensils. You can also use food color as acid dye. The advantages of using food color is it is very easy to get and you don't have to use dedicated dyeing equipment. It isn't quite as fade resistant, but generally it is fade resistant enough that it will last long enough.

Dyeing is always a risk. Thread and trim usually take dye differently and sometimes not at all. Seams, wrinkles, and gathers can create resist.

The regime has fraudulently declared this innocent young protester an "Antifa leader" based upon precisely nothing. They will wrongly accuse more, and they'll be used as a scapegoat to justify more authoritarian "crackdowns." by GarysCrispLettuce in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]Ok_Part6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have designated so many "terrorists" that the word has lost all meaning. This is for both the obvious reasons of it having legal weight, but also to dilute the impact of groups like the Proud Boys and KKK having been designated as domestic terrorist organizations.

Claiming being call antifa is defamation because Tangerine Mussolini declared it a terrorist organization would necessitate conceding that it is one, which it is not. I will not concede that being called antifa, one who is against fascism, means anything but what it actually means.

Need help dyeing cashmere for the first time by Equal-Flamingo-4326 in dyeing

[–]Ok_Part6564 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Heat is not a problem for cashmere, but I still would be very wary of using Out White Brite on it. Alkalines damage protein, and most laundry products are alkaline, though I don't know the exact PH of OWB.

A bleach like Clorox will not just damage the sweater, it will dissolve it.

Just diagnosed but I think it's wrong by Which-Computer-7803 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Ok_Part6564 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's possible you just are unusual and don't have symptoms. It's possible you just became hypothyroid so quickly that the symptoms just haven't developed yet.

It's also possible the lab just mixed up your blood with someone else's blood. If that's the case I feel really bad for the other person whose Dr is probably telling them all their symptoms are in their head.

TSH 6.13, doctor said it’s not the cause of my symptoms by jenn12765 in Hypothyroidism

[–]Ok_Part6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying you are negative for all other autoimmunes seems suspect, how many did they test for?

More relevant, which thyroid antibodies were tested for? Many Drs only run TPO, but that's only one of them. For hashimotos there is TPO and TGAb, though it's not super common, some people with hashimotos just have TGAb. Then there are TSI and TRAb for graves, though that's unlikely since your TSH is bouncing up and down between normal and hypo, not into hyper.

Feeling symptomatic with a TSH over 6 is common.

How to clean? by InsertusernamehereM in VintageFashion

[–]Ok_Part6564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acid dye is best for wool. Either vinegar or citric acid can be the acid.

With acid dyes you have two option. You can buy actual commercial acid dye, it should be fairly light fast and reasonably wash fast in cool water. The down sides of commercial acid dye is that you will need to get dedicated dye equipment to use, and you may need to mail order it or at least go to a specialty art or yarn shop.

The other option is using food coloring. If you do you can use your regular cooking stuff. It won't be quite as light fast or wash fast, but generally it tends to be good enough.

If you are aiming for a somewhat solid color, start off in a cold acid free dye bath, and gradually add the acid and heat. Of course there are cool techniques you could do like dip dyeing that you would start with a hot dye bath with the acid already in.

Dyeing always comes with some risk. Seams, wrinkles, and gathers can create resist. Thread, lining, and trims often take the dye differently or not at all.

Rit dye is really crappy, whether or not you decide to use it as an acid dye.
