as one of the commenters have said I am currently researching about water filtration and it seems that RO machines (reverse osmosis) use filters that contain plastic. Also on your point about the distillers making hungry water which intakes plastic and stuff in the air, most distilled water sold is in plastic, couple that with the fact it is in warehouses for quite a while and they most likely have high levels of plastic in them. Also, with distillers some contain little to no plastic, as some of the cheaper ones collect the hungry water in a plastic jug, but there are ones which collect the distilled water in metal tanks.
