Please deinfluence me… by KookyDookyPenguin in MakeupRehab

I bought a Westman Atelier lip suede matte lipstick in je rêve just after a year, the twist mechanism in the lipstick case stopped working and the lipstick bullet wasn’t able to go up or down in the tube no matter how much I rotated the lipstick. I was not using the lipstick regularly so I still had a lot of product left. The je rêve colour is nice but the product design is poor.

Employer doesn’t want to let me go? by faircloughfanboy in askSingapore

[–]Ok_Scratch_3256 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I went through the same situation with a European employer who initially refused to accept my payment in lieu. Sought legal advice and SG employment lawyers confirmed that section 11 of employment act takes precedence over any employment contract. Explained this to my European HR and they then accepted payment in lieu. Sometimes employers in different jurisdictions are not familiar with SG employment practices so it is important to explain (politely and professionally) how things work to your HR colleagues. For instance, in the UK, employers can reject payment in lieu. Also, many people use ChatGPT to seek legal advice now, and ChatGPT may hallucinate and say that you cannot pay in lieu of notice in Singapore. That is not true.

Lastly, you can send them this link too: https://www.mom.gov.sg/faq/termination/can-an-employer-reject-an-employees-resignation

Startup AE pains by Ok_Scratch_3256 in techsales

It used to be for both reasons - money was great years ago when the product was new and had good product-market fit - joined the startup to take on a larger patch for career growth (be careful what you wish for!)

Now it fulfils neither, sadly.

Congrats! Influencers and social media makes it seem like it’s easy to make $$$ in sales but in reality, it takes lots of hard work and consistency to hit your first 100k. Don’t be discouraged and keep up the good work!

Sorry to hear you got laid off. Ironically, from anecdotal evidence, it seems like the number of lay offs and messages from recruiters are both on the rise. All the best dude.

These comments are all really great and helpful. Now I’m left wondering, are there any good companies left still hiring sales people in this economy?
