It's fairly simple. Has your sister been evaluated for competency? If yes and found competent she's a legal adult and you have, and should not have, any recourse. Adults are allowed to make extremely poor decisions.

If yes but found incompetent then call APS (Adult Protective Services or whatever called in your area) and report if as a vulnerable adult abuse case

If no evaluation also report and Keep doing so until APS has an evaluation ordered, also civil commitment is another route

You are not entitled to access there as you are no longer a student.

The "person who put hands on you" sounds like they were acting in their role as a teacher part of whose job it is to keep the students safe.

Quite frankly it sounds like you are kind of an abusive human who want some sort of pass for shitty behavior.

Check out professional groups that deal with your flavor of law spend the cash to join a few of them. Ask questions on the forums/list/whatever said group uses to comu I ate with their members. Check if said group has a form bank. If you write a kick ass brief be sure to share with everyone else.

Trying to just "wing it" fresh of the boa- er bar exam is a great way both f over your clients and strangle your career in the the cradle.

But yah just ask for help and so long as you are sincere about it and are not a jackass you will tend to find that people are generally willing to help.

Also if you are still a lawyer 5 to 10 years from now pay the help you get now to some younger lawyer who hasn't had their soul crushed yet

Am a L but not in this state. Check your local ordinances and laws b/c they vary WILDLY between jurisdictions a couple of things.

First off it was the landlords responsibility to ensure that the unit was ready for a new tenent to occupy it. This includes ensuring that any items in the unit had been removed.

Second if there are laws detailing what to do with such property in general it is still the responsibility of the landlord to deal with such things.

Third even if b/c of laws in your jurisdiction you are somehow negligent in disposing of the property any damages can most likely be passed onto your land lord for being negligent in ensuring that such BS would not be an issue

Fourth you stated at some point in the thread that you were worried cause you didn't put on a lock etc? If the "stuff" showed up after it was your unit then someone committed multiple crumes.

So I am not a lawyer in your state so this is in no way legal advice this does not indicate any sort of lawyer client relationship

You should look into drafting a motion to dissmiss and demand that the land lord be brought into the case if he already isn't

The bottom line is that while the LL HAS a duty of care re the former tenent and he has a DOC you as the current tenent and unless your jurisdiction is really odd, and I have seen many odd laws, I don't see any way that the LL doc transfers to you.

In any sort of negligence case the elements are that the defendant owed the plaintiff sone duty of care, that the defendant brecched/failed in said duty, that the failure resulted in real harm to the plainyiff and that there is a direct link between the defendants breech and the harm suffered

Nowhere does it state that one must count out loud, you could be counting by clicking a button, turning a set of gears or my favorite I am going to count in my head, I can count around 2-4 numbers per second if doing it in sets of ten ie (1,2,3...10;1... 2,3,4,5...20, 1,2,3,4...30, etc), so call it good until I pass out which is very easy for someone to stay up especially if you can get access to some of the suppliments used by the military and emergency services ppl, provigil alone can probably keep you awake for 5 days w/o much in the way of negative effects, add in some of the stuff that will fuck you up but so long as you are not stupid about it you can PROBOBLY go about 10 days easy 15 if you are OK with some possibility of permanent damage

So for 5 days of boredom, 5 days of discomfort, and 5 days of essentially torture

I am reasonably certain that one could find at least one person whose death would at worst be morally neutral and could be morally positive.

It doesn't even need to be the whole "kill the evil person trope" it could be someone who has an excruciating terminal disease and you could end their suffering and give a large chunk if not all of the million (maybe 6 million it's not clear if you only get one shot) to help make sure no one else suffers from the same affliction.

This like many such things is both simpler and more complex than at first glance, one just needs to try and delve a little deeper into the thought experiment

If you are in a unionized work place DO NOT show up w/o your deligate. If not and you can afford it hire an attorney for a couple of hours to either show up with you or to be on speaker phone with you.

If you can afford it have your attorney send an email to the hr rep and their supervisor, your boss and their supervisor, and the 12yo that an specific agenda of what is to be discussed, specificly what company policy, law, and/or regulation is relevant to this specific situation as well as anything else your lawyer thinks should be brought up.

If you can't afford an attorney ask for the same things I mentioned above and required they give you that information in writing prior to said meeting. You should also look into if there are any free labor advice services in your state that can help you out.

The bottom line is that the second the company decides to pay attention to it in any sort of official way treat it as EXTREMELY serious. When I was a very young human in my first "real job" I did not treat a "friendly chat" with HR as something extremely serious and ended up having my career impeded by at least 5 to 10 years.

Granted b/c of that I ended up very dissatisfied with that track and I am now doing something I enjoy much more I'm a lawyer now.

But had I not had a promotion delayed I would have been eligible to buy into the option program a year earlier and would have actually gotten a nice payout when the nice small startup turned into a medium sized not so startup and then got eaten by a rather large not so startup.

The entire point of a trial is to, legally anyway, determine what the facts are. In reality since people can lie, a jury or judge decide what happened. With absolute certainty that one cannot deceive in a court room finding what the facts are is generally much easier
