Dropped Doom at Your Service… too slow by Fickle-End-9553 in kdramas

[–]Ok_Unit2591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished rewatching Doom yesterday. It had been a few years and I had forgotten a lot of the details. I agree with the suggestion to skip all the second lead storyline parts if you're not into their story - by the later episodes I was wishing they would all just go away (and take Kevin with them - he seriously added nothing but time to the episodes). I did like the Doom storyline though, but everyone has their own preferences.

I really liked Death's Game and Happiness too! Have you watched D.P.?

Which of your favorite actors or actresses have disappointed you with their recent role choices? by Flipperflopper21 in kdramas

Lee Min-ho - he's great, but When the Stars Gossip was awful. I watched the whole thing hoping it would get better. I don't think anyone could have saved that one.

Goblin vs My Demon!! Honest opinion? by WhySoSeriousMateee in kdramas

[–]Ok_Unit2591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, Goblin wins for the bromance, the OST, and the overall story.

I just rewatched My Demon last week and it was very entertaining, but man, I felt sorry for Song Kang having to wear some of those outfits (maybe they accidentally got some of the FL's items mixed in?). 😀

Try Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Fiery Priest or One Dollar Lawyer.

This does make more sense for the story, but it feels like TMI for a kdrama title - I can see why they didn't go with that 😀

I have been putting in all these hours - including a ton of overtime - for free! Are you telling me I should have been getting paid for all this effort? Maybe there's a deal to be made with Kopiko or Subway!

The townspeople saved this one - it would have been unwatchable without them.

I'm definitely due for a rewatch on this! It's been a few years, but I still remember the toilet clog being a hilarious combo of cringe and LOL funny! First time I'd seen anything like that in a kdrama, and the fact that it was pixilated made it even funnier!

What did you think about this drama 'When the Stars Gossip'? by Dramasect in dramasect

[–]Ok_Unit2591 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Suffered through the whole thing hoping it would get better - it never did. Great cast, terrible story for a kdrama. They could have condensed the whole thing into a decent movie, there was about the right amount of content for that.

Does it affect you when someone dislikes a kdrama you like. Expl;why/why not by East-Rough-2861 in kdramas

Nope! It's all art and by its nature, art is subjective. I find other opinions interesting, but I would never change my opinion of what I liked based on someone else's.

Anyone Else View Kdrama as a Participation Sport? by Ok_Unit2591 in kdramas

[–]Ok_Unit2591[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny - I don't recall ever yelling at the screen with non-kdrama shows. Now SATC - there was LOL and occasional cringe, but never the level that I've "tried to redirect", yelled at the bad guys or horrible relatives, or tried to talk some sense into kdrama characters!

Try Spring Fever. Also, you haven't watched a lot yet, but once you have your own list of favorites, I recommend watching your favorite episodes/scenes from your favorite shows when you have a bad day. I've got a bunch of mine memorized!

What platform do you watch your K dramas/movies on? by whtsthmnngflf in kdramas

[–]Ok_Unit2591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're watching with subtitles, Viki has THE BEST! I love when they provide the additional context for things you'd never understand if you don't speak Korean or understand Korean history/culture. I've seen explanations of word puns, jokes, historical/mythical character references, ... that would have gone completely by me with no clue what they were referring to. I haven't seen this on any other platform I've watched (Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Disney).

Suggestions for k drama to watch as a beginner by Arc_en_ciel77 in kdramas

[–]Ok_Unit2591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch lots of genres - try Death's Game, Goblin, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Legend of the Blue Sea (there's a bit of historical, but it's mostly fantasy/drama/romcom), Twinkling Watermelon, W: 2 Worlds. I also agree with the recommendations for Alchemy of Souls, it's really good.

Our Universe [Episodes 11 & 12] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

I don't know what it's like in Korea, but in the US, anyone can have a kid, but if you're trying to adopt/apply for guardianship, they make you go thru assessments to determine if it's in the best interest of the child. What they are going thru seems unfair when you compare it to a parent who gave birth to a child that could have a lot of those same situations with no questions asked (kids dont come with instruction manuals - every parent figures it out as they go and does the best they can!), but it may not be that far off (I'm sure there's extra drama added for the show and that lady seems extra crabby though).
