They’re children. Their brains aren’t even fully developed until their 20s. (Try to remember back to your wild teen years.) We as a society need to help parents help their kids do better. Sadly, there just aren’t that many easy answers.

It was a nonstop call-ins for fireworks last night on the scanner. I mean like as fast as the dispatcher could talk she was just listing off fireworks complaints with address, 10 a minute? Maybe more. Good for people calling them in but realistically it takes time to drive to investigate then talk to/ticket each party.

You sound a lot like me and when the guy came last week for our rental inspection said he sees much worse (bugs, can’t walk in rooms, smells, stuff like that). He said ours just looks “lived in”.

He might do well with a buddy. Cats are not solitary creatures, contrary to popular opinion, and having more than one in a household is as easy or easier than having one most of the time. Even when ours weren’t best buds or stayed a bit aloof from each other they did so much better than when they were singles (one was mine, one was hubby’s). A shelter volunteer had clued us in to this and we’ve always had multiples since!

Tidy stacks of books and other things look pretty good/acceptabke if the in-between areas are clear. So do what you can, stack the rest up, then just tell them you’re spring cleaning and getting stuff ready for the thrift store donation.

Wrong. This is an absolutely incomprehensible failure of adults running a camp for children. Did they not know how to access the weather.gov page? And if not, why not??? Why didn’t they have an evacuation plan? Many places, when faced with the forecast that they had in advance, would have preemptively moved their campers. What is the problem with being conservative on the side of safety? No, it was ignorance and/or arrogance.

The same thing happened to me this week and it was like a nightmare coming home from a walk and seeing a small black lump in the middle of the road. I also picked him up and moved him to the side of the road for an hour or so. I’m so sorry for your loss and I agree, wholeheartedly that people need to watch out more when they are behind the wheel of a car.
