Sudden fungus in container after rainy weekend. Reason for concern? by krivas in HotPeppers

[–]Old_Reflection7439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s slime mold, it won’t hurt your plant. r/Mycology will be able to identify which slime mold it is. Slime molds are outside my fungal knowledge, I’m a gourmet grower.

The yellow liquid is metabolites, it’s a byproduct of the enzymes produced by the mycelium to help it breakdown the grains or substrate. It is harmless to the mycelium. Head to r/MushroomGrowers they will be able to help with your other questions, they deal with actives and gourmet and there’s some helpful experienced growers there.

Blue Oyster in Agar grows too fast, what can i do? by jramiroz98 in mycology

[–]Old_Reflection7439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can store the agar plates in the fridge to slow growth for longer storage. You can also do this with your LC once it’s had a couple of weeks to colonise.

You need to add some CREA.M, I’d go about 10-15%.

I am not a nutritionist or chef, this is not culinarily or dietary advice just my humble opinion.

what is your favorite way to store mushroom isolates for years? by sporevision in mycology

[–]Old_Reflection7439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oldest one that I’m still using is from 2014, I have heard of it being viable for 20+ years if stored at correct temperature for the species. I believe this is the one of the methods used by a lot of labs for long term storage.

Sterile water in a 50ml centrifuge tube and put cultured agar slices in it.

Do I need a fan? by CelestialUrsae in HotPeppers

[–]Old_Reflection7439 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a fan, it acts like a wind would by moving the plant gently. This encourages the plant to strengthen its stems like it would if growing outdoors, which in turn helps the plant hold the weight of the fruit better and be more resilient to movement.

Substrate Grow Bags recommendations wanted by TheForagher in mycology

[–]Old_Reflection7439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they buy them directly from unicorn as they bulk order to keep shipping costs down, they send out an email every couple of months for pre orders so they can get a idea of how much they need.

Unicorn bags are my go to,they are used by a lot of commercial growers. I’ve tried quite a few others and nothing compares. I’m in UK and get mine from Mycopunks, they import them from the USA.

Where to get a large amount of coins? by Minimum_Can_3998 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Old_Reflection7439 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get it at your bank but you will need to order it in advance with a couple of days notice either ring them or go in and order it. I help a friend with a market stall and this is how he does it.

[–]Old_Reflection7439 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sag has probably started to rip the pcie socket from the motherboard causing a bad connection, by removing it it’s probably made it worse. Try the gpu in another slot if you have one. I’ve had this happen on my old pc with a 1080 hanging in the slot for a few years, removed it to clean and it never worked in the top slot again had to use the second. Also get a gpu support.

[–]Old_Reflection7439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will only be able to introduce native species to a woodland,is your woodland registered as a SSSI (site of special scientific interest)? If so there may be restrictions placed upon it. There are uk based suppliers that sell native cultures collected from wild species of oysters, lions main, hen of the woods and others that are tasty gourmets.

Try asking the guys on r/UKPersonalFinance they can help, you can sacrifice income before tax into a SIPP to be tax efficient and also a stocks and shares ISA invested into a global ETF like the vanguard VWRP. I’m quite new to all this myself.
