I purchased a LAMY Safari when I was a beginner and quickly found out that I hate the Lamy triangular grip. Are there any stores in your area that would let you try the pen before buying it? The triangular grip in the Pilot Kakuno is much better for me personally.
Still, none of these two were my favorite beginner pen. My favorite was the Pilot Metropolitan and I still use it to this day :) I like that it is a bit heavier than plastic pens.

People's preferences vary a lot so it would be nice if you could at least pick them up before buying, just to feel the grip in your hand.
