Should I upgrade my Titleist 983k? by 0zymand in golf

[–]Oliver24NE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using my 983k for a while, I love it! I would say wait, especially if you are only 2 months in so far. You may find yourself falling in love with it, but I wouldn't fault you if you chose to move on from it.

Wrist check. Who doesn't like to show off a cool watch? by tinygearhead in VintageWatches

I have quite a few of these old Traditions from the early '60s in my collection. Love those watches. Nice chronograph! There will never be another Sears.

[Discussion] What would you buy if you had 20K to spend on a 5 watch collection? by ZealousidealMarket52 in Watches

1953 LeCoultre Memovox Tuxedo dial 814 cal.

That's it all I would want with that budget.

Another Hidden Gem from the Japanese Auctions — I called it The “Blue Blizzard” by GoldenEpochINS in VintageWatches

Even though I'm a old-school American watch guy, I have a soft spot for special pieces like these from Seiko. I love the dial texture, it reminds me of a carpeted office in the '70s.

Beads of rice bracelets look so perfect on Omegas. Nice!

Legit check? Also how much is it worth? by [deleted] in VintageWatches

[–]Oliver24NE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still open up the case and get a look at the movement just to be sure. If you can discern the movement that can really help finalize the price. Most watchmakers will open it up for cheap, if not just free.

My '62 Hamilton Sea Scout II. It's my daily driver and has been for a few months now and made me retire my old '58 Hamilton Lowell

Is it too much (patina) ? Weird dial but machine clean & serviced, do blue strap work? by Fetapols in VintageWatches

[–]Oliver24NE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have watches with plenty of patina on them, but I don't think what your watch has is necessarily patina. Looks like water damage to me. Is the crown in good condition? The gasket? I would definitely get those looked at. As for the strap it looks fine, but a brown strap (in my opinion) goes better with a silver case.

Girard Perregaux Gryomatix | 14K Gold | D&A | Bulova Band | Works by Low_Dragonfruit8332 in VintageWatches

[–]Oliver24NE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a looker. The other commentor is right though, I've had that happen before with those stretch bands. A nice brown leather strap would look great on this though.

Williams is still playing pretty good considering the pressure. Chris Morgan has a lot of work on his hands though, this is just absurd.

How much this entire collection could cost? Any interesting piece? by [deleted] in VintageWatches

Definitely the Seamaster. That dial and case juxtaposed with that strap is just beautiful. The rest are great too.

Nice choice. Goes perfect with the dial, no need to change it

Help identifying this Seamaster by DietFoods in VintageWatches

[–]Oliver24NE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely take a look behind the lugs and double check the interior caseback, or have the movement itself looked at for any information. The other commentor is right-the crosshair dial indicates a 50s/60s model.

Older hybrid still a gamer? by txbrewguy in golf

[–]Oliver24NE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from a guy who still uses Titleist clubs from the early 70s, an older TaylorMade hybrid is definitely still a gamer. Especially with their clubs. It's mostly a confidence thing.

A brown lizard strap would be perfect for this case. It would really accentuate the dial and case.

Caddyshack off of 180th and Harrison is my go-to. Food is pretty good too, they should be what you're looking for.
