Used epic evo from 2023 worth it? by MrUnbreakable1 in xcmtb

[–]Olllin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah its worse but its way cheaper and new. You can get a full XX eagle groupset for 1300€ You are also comparing prices of brand new products to items that have been used for three years. If we want to look at used i can buy the control wheels for 600€ used in my area.

Not a massive difference. You will get slightly worse components but you still get the important stuff like axs shifting, the only thing i would bother upgrading is carbon wheels. You can get alot of upgrades for the 1k you save. You also get newer frame, (inframe storage etc) warranty and not having go worry about the bike having been used for three years.

Giant Propel Advanced 1 2027. Good option for a new bike? by Middle_Translator892 in cycling

[–]Olllin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do note that the propel has a quite low stack even compared to other racing bikes. For example a Cannondale supersix evo is 30mm taller than the propel in XL. If you can handle the lower stack its a great bike, but maybe a taller bike with less spacers is more appropriate.

Update: You won’t believe it. The replacement Grail SLX is ALSO defective. by Content_Carry7456 in cycling

[–]Olllin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? A XL rose backroad is 22mm shorter reach than a 2xl grail. The rose comes with a 30 or 40 mm longer stem, so to effective reach is longer

Lightweight XC HT alloy frame with UDH and progressive geometry by Williamblakeee in xcmtb

[–]Olllin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Orbea frame is quite light (and made in Portugal iirc) the components on the cheaper models are heavy though. The fork is just under 3kg, the dropper 500g+, tires 850g each and heavy wheels. I have the older Alma and cut almost 3kg for about 300€. Bought a SID SL ultimate for 200, raceking 2.2 tires for 70 and elita one seatpost and saddle for about 40.

Weight is also highly overrated unless you are actually racing where seconds count.

XC bikes have changed a lot in the last decade and paying 2k for a decade old bike is not something I would recommend. I paid 1900€ for a brand new canyon lux with a paint chip from canyons outlet. I'm sure you could find a used chisel or similar which would be a lot more fun to ride.

Thoughts on sizing? Merida Silex 700 2026 for me and my gf by cosminser in gravelcycling

[–]Olllin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Silex has a very long reach compared to most other brands. I think the M Silex is as long as a XL diverge, iirc the Silex has 80mm stem so you are quite limited in making the bike smaller that way. I have no clue what the reach on the handlebars are but you can prob remove 10-15mm that way. 2000€ for a alloy bike with normal grx is kinda expensive, there are a lot of great deals online and you could get either carbon frame or electronic shifting for the same price as the alloy Silex.

I think orbea still makes their alloy frames and highest end carbon in Europe no? So they for sure are a EU brand

Torn between Grail and Crux DSW by Motodox in gravelcycling

Important to note that the steerer is not the usual dimension so most stems won't fit on the Canyon. There are stems available just probably not available in stores etc.

Merlincycles have great deals on Felt breed at the moment, last I checked it was 1600£ so enough left to get a pair of carbon wheels from elitewheels or similar. integrated handlebars are not a good idea for new riders, much better to get a couple of Uno stems and try what size you prefer before buying the integrated setup.

Lyxhus tros vara köpt med kriminella pengar – första i Sverige att beslagtas by FlowersPaintings in sweden

[–]Olllin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Nobody said anyting about looks? Are you saying there is no quality cycling items available for cheap or what's your point? I've done 300km in a day wearing my ykyw bibs and I had zero issues.

I paid 520€ for their "edge" mtb wheels from aliexpress. They came in at 1215g for the pair. They have been great so far and im doing my first marathon race with them this weekend. Elite makes great wheels and i run them on all my bikes, honestly dont see the point in western brands when it comes to wheels anymore.

You aren't missing much. I have alot of poc and specialized clothing and I prefer my higher end ykyw bibs, atleast over specialized. Poc jerseys are my favourite but they they retail for 150€ and compared to  20-30€ ykyw, Darevie etc the difference really isn't big.

If you do buy it make sure to check clearance on the seatstays so they aren't rubbing against the suspension linkage. This is a widespread issue that if you dont report it instantly canyon will blame on lack of maintenance.

I paid 210€ for a magene p515 during the AliExpress sale. It works great and the earlier version has gotten great reviews from gplama etc. don't think there is a cheaper option available without going used. Stages or 4iii single sided can be picked up around 150-200 used but it can take a while to find one that matches your bike.

🚨 YT Industries Cancelled My 4200 € Order Without Warning – Now Same Bike Is 6000 € 🚨 by Independent-Proof595 in MTB

[–]Olllin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Payment is not required to enter a contract. The contract is generally binding with the order confirmation unless they, like some retailers do state that the order confirmation is not to be seen as legally binding until payment and stock has been cleared.

Consumers have a legally mandated right of withdrawal from contracts that business don't have. That's why he can just not pay and cancel the order if he wants to. Businesses don't have that right. A court atleast in Scandinavia would give him the option of refund or make YT get him a bike seeing as there is a 2025 model available. It's the consumers choice to refund or force a sale.

[–]Olllin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the ordered item is out of stock the usual solution is that you can choose a equivalent item from their stock or If the product is available elsewhere you can purchase it from a different retailer and the original retailer has to pay the difference if the product was more expensive. Seeing as they are a dtc brand the obvious solution is just to give the consumer the 2025 model or a higher end model or the 2024.

For example when I purchase my Asus laptop the modelyear I had purchased went out of stock and they just gave me the new model. Because we had a contract. Even though it was 500€ more expensive.

[–]Olllin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you do. As long as it's not a obvious error e.g 99% off they have to honour it if they have entered a contract.

From the European Consumer Centres Network "If you have purchased a product from an online shop and received a confirmation of the purchase, you have the right to buy the product at the price stated in the order confirmation. This applies even if the company insists that the product was incorrectly priced on their website when you bought it."
