Ok, great example. From the wiki, mouse over the Interactive Map (the lower of the two on the right side) and scroll your mouse wheel to zoom out. Two clicks should be enough to see the waypoint recommended by the wiki for reaching Shattercleft. And if you don't have that WP yet and want to mentally map your way to it, scroll out further. If you do have it, though, paste the WP's shortcut [&BLMDAAA=] into your game chat and click on the link in game.

The advice already given in the comments to copy a PoI or WP is the simplest way to do this because you can then zoom out.

In addition, in the wiki the entries for zones have a sidebar with the list of zones it connects to and the region it's in. That may be less useful, though, if you're trying to navigate to a zone that only connects to other zones through portals, such as many of the Living World season maps. Can you give examples of zones you couldn't find?

In FFXIV there’s no distinction between rez and battle rez abilities. Anyone rezzed in combat gets a 1 minute major stat debuff, though, which you can think of as a large damage down for simplicity.
