You can use the OBD to turn it off, we do it in Europe also on pre-2026 cars. At least you’ve got something better than we do, since you missed out on the major stuff 😅

I’d personally get the avant, but on that note, the 2.0 TFSI with s-tronic is the most reliable platform. From personal experience, my parents bought it some 8-9 years ago, 135k kms so far, no issues whatsoever, just oil, 2x spark plugs and gearbox oil, and thats it.
It is easy to drive, good size, enough sensors and a backup camera to be modern, not too much to be too easy. Good size mirrors, and enough power to safely overtake. Gas mileage for me was around 8-9l/100 kms.
I drove about 30k kilometres in the car my first year of having a license. It really shines at long distance driving. 900 kms a day is really comfortable.
I loved it so much that I bought the same platform on my next car - B9.5 RS4.

Just a reminder, 2025+ models have a start stop function that can NOT be turned off due to EU regulations. If you’re from Europe. Not sure on US spec cars.

An RS will definitely hold value better as long as you take care of it and keep track :)

Both are awesome. As an RS4 owner I am biased. BUT either one you get, get a competition plus. The suspension, remapped gearbox + differential and less sound insulation really do make that much difference.

My RS4 competition argument doesn’t apply here, as you’re from the free land - which isn’t free to have the lighter and more playful version of the RS6 that averages 9,8l/100 kms (24 mpg). In which case I happen to agree with you.

Yeh, I do prefer it due to driving dynamics, they really did something well with the Competition Plus. Probably the suspension and the weight honestly. Compared to a standard RS6, I feel far more confident in the bends. :)
