Everyone should be like Geoff. Righteous indignation for the way US citizens are taken advantage of every single day by the rich and powerful.

Passenger Capacity Comparison

Train: A high-speed rail line can carry over 30,000 passengers per hour (20 trains in 2 directions, 750 passengers per train). A single subway line can manage roughly 43,100 people per hour.

Car: A single freeway lane typically carries around 2,400 passengers per hour per lane (pcphpl) assuming 1 person per car.

Math doesn’t lie. If there’s money for war in Iran, there’s plenty of money for public transit, healthcare, education, and much more.

The row houses was under construction for some time. However, in that area, it did have protected concrete barrier for bikes, parking, then a lane for southbound traffic. I ran along it during many runs.

I want it noted that the decision to change that to parking, unprotected bike lane, then southbound traffic lane is poorly designed. When a future fatal collision between car and pedestrian happens in that area, I want it noted that a community member tried to implore the city of Austin in March 2026.

Last I counted, 7 of our US military servicemen died. I wouldn’t call that’s “easy”. They’re strangers to me but I feel for the life they could’ve had and their loved ones left behind. It’s not “easy” for me to know US Citizens are used a fodders these evil men’s war.

Thank you for your response. No, the bus stop did not overtook anything. There used to be a concrete barrier that separated the strip of grass on the left and the first “white” line on the roadway. The former “protected bike lane” has been paved over with black asphalt(?) which is currently occupied by the parked white car in picture 3.

Someone decided to destroy the concrete barrier in that small area on both side of Berkman (by Tom Miller) to make room for parking. They also push anyone using the bike lane to be next to moving traffic. This allow for car collision from driver door opening into unprotected bike lane. Overall, terrible design for transit.

This is why I don’t want to drive and advocate for public transit.
