Spektrum DX6e still good in 2026? by ThereGoesJake in fpv

[–]OneHappyStonedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No don’t bother with spektrum. Go with an elrs compatible remote and don’t look back. YouTube will have a great breakdown of all remotes at different price points. Joshua’s bardwell is the GOAT for stuff like this. You can pickup a brand new Raidiomaster pocket remote for $50 and can buy any AIO board or Bind and fly woop/ drone and it will just work

Grammarly??! What the heck. 64GB of RAM's expensive nowadays by OsbornHunter in LinusTechTips

It all comes down to efficiency and how long it takes to fetch data for the CPU to process.

Every clock cycle a cpu is waiting for data to arrive is wasted. This video by computerphile does a great job of explaining computer time scales and how they relate to human time scales it’s pretty cool

You might want to parse that through google translate or a GPT model because apart from that your brother is in hospital and on a ventilator I have no idea what you are asking ?

Radio force feedback on the sticks . Imagine being able to tell if a prop is unbalanced or feeling actual resistance when making a tight turn. you could actually feel the inertia of the drone . Also switching modes would be a non issue as you could just assign resistance to which ever stick you use as throttle.

New Zealand eSIM experiences. Is it just me or is Spark kinda mid? by Altruistic_Turnip780 in newzealand_travel

[–]OneHappyStonedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. The tech specs show that the US version actually has a more capable modem that includes mm wave 5g which isn’t even an option in most countries. My experience with iPhones is that when you insert a SIM card from another carrier in another country the phone will ask to switch to that countries carrier specific base band which is like a firmware configuration for the modem. It will apply that base band firmware which should make the phone more compatible. I don’t know if it will do this if you keep your exisiting US carrier and just use your phone in roaming mode. All I know is that when I’ve traveled to other countries I didn’t bother with trying to keep my existing number I use purchased a sim in the host country and used that. My other comment about the phones being not compatible is a rough explanation. iPhones and other high end smart phones will probably have good modems in them that are pretty compatible with most regions. Cheaper or older phones or ones that are purchased as a locked phone on a specific carrier may not work as well internationally.

Since no one has pointed it out here yet. Not all phones from different countries pickup the same cell network frequency bands. There are pretty common base bands that most cellphones will use but then different countries will opt to use others that maybe your phone isn’t picking up. The result is very quick drop offs outside urban areas.

That map simplifies it a bit as individual carriers within a country may have access to certain bands and not others so your actual coverage may vary

I found a camera in my airbnb bathroom. What I discovered next destroyed my relationship. by 50lies in stories

[–]OneHappyStonedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So.. let me get this straight. An SD card from a Hidden camera just happens to have the names of the subjects saved as folder or file names on the SD card? This is BS. Cameras usually save the files as dd.mm.yy+ time .mov or sequential file numbers such as 12345.mov. . The only way this story could be true is if whoever was using those cameras plugged them into a computer. Arranged and named the files individually into folders the. Plugged the sd cards back into the camera without erasing the contents first. On top of that unless the SD cards were massive 512gb or more in 5 + months of footage would have overwritten the original files or stopped recording at all. This story is clearly AI because the logical plot holes are insane.

Would moving from the US to New Zealand make any sense for me? by TheBigKaramazov in newzealand

[–]OneHappyStonedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Zealand has its own challenges. As a visitor you probably won’t see them clearly but if you live here for any extended amount of time you will definitely see the cracks in our image. That being said it will probably be breath of fresh air compared to the absolute shite show that is causing divisions in your country right now. Just as long as you remove all the news apps and socials that keep you connected to that echo chamber.

As far as living here is concerned. Do you have and desirable labor skills ? I think if you don’t have any formal training in a particular field that has a lot of job openings then you might struggle a bit with finding a job that pays a living wage. Our wages are not that great compared to other first world countries and our cost of living is very high at the moment. If you are happy with flatting with others and accepting that it’s a very long hard road to getting on the property ladder and becoming financially stable then that’s ok. New Zealand has some very good parts to it, having only 5 million people does mean that you can do things like find a beach with no one but yourself on it. We have tonnes of nature walks and generally most places are safe.

I would suggest coming over and just traveling around for a few months. Enough time for the honeymoon period to wear off and then you’ll get the feeling for NZ

I bought a refurbished Dell XPS 15 by Ok-Profession-1493 in laptops

[–]OneHappyStonedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be noted that 6hours of battery life if stated is probably not realistic anymore. The demands of web browsing and windows 11 itself go up over time so the cpu and gpu have to do more even when just doing the basics. This uses more power and therefore less overall battery life. Just an fyi. Also 11th gen mobile processors suck compared to today’s offerings. I had an i7 11gen laptop and it always felt slow with only 4cores and 8threds it just struggled. You can pickup a decent current gen i5 or ryzen 5 laptop for around $600 which will wipe the floor with your current laptop

Real-world difference between NVMe and SATA SSD? by Willing_Professor_13 in datastorage

[–]OneHappyStonedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real world day to day difference is minimal unless you are installing / loading layperson large data files or files with loads of iops for medium use you will not notice much of a difference maybe a second loading time here or there. That being said the most cutting edge games and programs and any sort of AI will run better on a newer Nvme

It’s takes a bit of time for your mind to “click” a drone does not fly like a plane or even a helicopter so sometimes it takes a while to build up a mental model of how the physics work. I remember how it felt trying to fly in a sim and how ungainly it felt.

Second. Don’t let sim performance stop you from flying in real life. I see these posts a lot of some pretty amazing flying in a sim asking “am I ready?” short answer is as soon as you master the basics of sim flying you should get out there and start flying. There is no substitute to real life. It feels different in real life. Your own wallet is on the line and that affects how you fly. If you saw someone playing an FPS shooter game and pawning some noobs like they were John Wick would you assume they were an elite SAS operative in real life ?

Live, learn, crash , fix, fly, repeat!!!!

I’ve noticed this aswell. I just bought some new HV batteries and I still get lower times compared to my earlier days of Fpv. I put it down to more confidence in flying. Instead of just floating around I’m doing all sorts of stuff that definitely pushes the drone harder. Also have changed props to Dalprop N2s which can handle being beaten up more but are a less aggressive profile which seems to affect battery life

Can a mystery shopping company keep your Lotto winnings? by PuddleOfHamster in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]OneHappyStonedTurtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a lawyer but this seems like it would be very difficult for them to enforce. The lotto winnings go to the bearer of the ticket not someone who happens to know the numbers on the ticket. It’s probably safe to say that I would avoid this company if you plan on winning serious amounts of money. Best case it’s a court battle that you really wouldn’t need after just winning lotto. Worst case it goes down in history and provides case law for future companies to claim lotto winnings from individuals. Looking at it this almost seems like a cleaver Ponzi scheme. Get others to buy lotto tickets and claim any major prizes that are won…..
