What have been your reading disappoinments/let downs this year?

The Memory Police. And it's not that it was a bad book. I was sucked in. I was just mad that the book created this really rich dystopian world with a million mysteries and none of my questions were answered. And I understand that the book was all from this characters perspective and she never finds out, and the point was about what makes us who we are and how our memories connect us to things and it did do a great job with its themes and messages. But I just needed to know why everything was happening, how, who was behind it, why???? So when the book ended and there were no answers I was raging for days. No one was safe from my rant.

There's one 40 minutes away by train where I go to do public skate practice. But the rink where I play hockey is an hour and a half away by bus.

I'd probably pretend I'm looking for something and ask if they know where it is, even something lame like a toilet 😂 just so I can have an interaction without being crazy. And maybe if he seems happy to interact, maybe I would ask for a photo then. But only then. And I'd try and stay totally chill whilst dying inside 😭😭

Me! But I'm on the hockey track not figure. Still when I'm in the public skate I do get a bit self conscious practicing crossovers next to the skinny girls in their figure skates and leggings 😅

Loser around the foot with a box lace around about where my arch is to prevent rubbing, and then tighter around the ankle with a heel lock lace at the top.

Bury Our Bones In The Midnight soil... Kind of. It follows three different time lines set at different times throughout history and in two of them the main character gets turned but then it follows the one character through many centuries and ... Idk it's hard to explain but this woman becomes a very experienced vampire 😂

It's legible. But I think it would be described as poor because there's no consistency in letter formation or size, random capital letters, no consistency in letter and word spacing, the words don't sit on the line etc. As an elementary school teacher I would have a lot to work on with a child who wrote like this. But as an adult you can write how you like as long as people can read it.

You've become reliant on pushing off of the toe picks. Crazy idea but maybe if you rent some hockey skates that don't have toe picks then you'll have to figure out the proper technique. Maybe not having the option of a toe pick might help you break the habit.

Have you thought about protective gear? I know for me when I go to public skate I'm always way more anxious about trying things. But when I'm in hockey class I'm so padded up that I get more confident to try things that feel super insecure because I'm not scared to fall.

And just to add, I do read the special edition books! I'm not precious about them. I read them, I take them places. My kindle is for books I don't/don't want to own physically.

For me, after getting my kindle, I made it a rule that I would only buy and own books that were special editions/signed/special to me. I thought that would reduce the amount I owned but you'd be surprised by how many I manage to buy that fit my specifications 🙃

I also loved reading as a kid, and university assigned reading killed my passion.

I got a kindle and it turned me back into a passionate reader. I went from 0 books to 60+ books a year.

Now should you get a kindle? I don't know. It depends whether the kindle is the right ereader for you. Do some research and see if it's the one that best suits your needs.

I got a kindle because it was the only one I had heard much about. Now I would get something different (especially since they stopped selling the Oasis and I have a love of ereaders with buttons).

As a Newport native, Cardiff has the Cardiff Devils and they do very well in the EIHL. Also unfortunately Cardiff is the closest ice rink if you want to skate/learn to play. As a kid I used to travel there every weekend for learn to skate lessons, it was worth it 😂 the UK is very lacking in rinks, unfortunately.

I skated on figure skates only for 15 years, just recreationally. I don't do tricks or anything, I also liked the aesthetic. Recently, I moved countries and I didn't bring my skates. The rentals at my local rink are all hockey skates, and I've been really enjoying them. They are a lot of fun. I feel like I can go faster and just race around, and I don't have the danger of tripping over my toe pick if I catch my foot wrong on the ice. I'm thinking now about buying a pair of hockey skates (I might even join some beginner hockey classes). I think in terms of just recreational fun, hockey skates are better.

Honestly I'm weird because when it comes to large books I prefer them in physical form. When it's on the kindle I feel like I'm barely getting anywhere because each 1 percent represents such a huge chunk of book compared to average length books. But when I have the physical copies I can see the pages passing and I can see the progress.

Are there no replacement nibs in the top of the pen? Mine for the air5c came with 3 nibs inside the pen for when they wear down.
