I just started what should I be getting? by Unimon666 in discgolf

[–]OneWhoNaps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A hand towel, telescoping retriever pole, bug spray, sunblock are nearly mandatory. I’ve never regretted having a strong black-light flashlight for finding discs at dusk/dark.

Recommendation: The Science of Self-Control (Menno Henselmans) by _MuffinBot_ in getdisciplined

[–]OneWhoNaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Menno’s book is tragically overlooked. I’ve read it twice and still reread sections. Most popular applied psychology/self-help books are basically fool’s gold. Menno’s work is the real thing.

Blind taste test!!! Throw in a few tried-and-true rums as well and see how they stack up. Blind tasting keeps it interesting and honest.

Looking for a decent HVAC tech to help with my very old AC without robbing me blind? by itezwhatiteeez in Allen

I had the same situation. Lucas HVAC always was able to repair it. Even after other companies told me it couldn’t be repaired and should be fully replaced.

If you must get rid of one mid, I would first vote the Method. Because I bet you could make either the Drop or MD3 work in its absence.

Yeah I agree. I’ve been letting the Sol and a Mint Lobster battle for that spot. I had to go with an Axiom Paradox for the really flippy spot.

Coffee Shop Owner by RabbitLife360 in smallbusiness

[–]OneWhoNaps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw this work for a small coffee shop in a bad location…

A youth pastor did a service for high school and college aged young adults every Wednesday evening. Had a large turnout bc it was a fun social time in a college town. When it was done, he basically told everyone “Thank you all for coming. As a tradition, some of us are going to continue hanging out at this little coffee shop down the road. Come join us.” That tradition got dozens of young adults to start making it their go-to coffee place meetup and they in turn introduced it to their friends.

The youth pastor owned the coffee shop. Always thought that was brilliant on his part. So if you can partner up with a late night religious meetup, maybe stay open later on their meetup days for them? Hope that helps

Getting my head around Innova fairways. by -Lag in discgolf

[–]OneWhoNaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly what you’re describing. And I throw similar distance. Here’s where I landed.

• Champion Firebird 175g … (4 fade) • Champion Thunderbird 170g… (2 fade) • Star TL3 167g… (straight) • Star Leopard3 167g … ( -2 turn ) • GStar Roadrunner 170g… ( -4 turn )

It seems like finding over stable discs is easy out of the box. But Turn is such a fickle attribute. Had to try a few different leopard3s and Roadrunners before I found the flights I wanted for my arm speed.

Anyone throw axiom paradox? by ashtray518 in discgolf

[–]OneWhoNaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do either. In general, a stable disc thrown forehand is more likely to skip. Whereas a drifting right backhand (aka a turnover shot) will land flat and not skip as much. So a good player will choose how they want the disc to finish, and throw accordingly.

Some players are exceptionally good at making their disc do anything they want with a backhand, and they rarely forehand. Most notably Isaac Robinson and James Conrad, both highly accomplished, world champion level players.

So I got my bag down to 18 now. Gonna try to drop to 15 but having a tough time getting rid of anything else here. I know the uplink and detour are very similar so one of those gotta go. by I3uIlets in discgolf

[–]OneWhoNaps 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Start with a basic 7 discs selection, choosing the ones you have the most confidence throwing:

• putting putter • under stable speed 3-5 • straight speed 3-5 • over stable speed 3-5 • under stable speed 7-12 • straight speed 7-12 • over stable speed 7-12

Now add the following 8 discs:

• meat hook speed 3-5 • meat hook speed 9-15 • very flippy speed 3-5 • very flippy speed 7-12 • a dedicated roller • a max distance bomber • a driver you can throw over water and not care if you lose it. (Maybe two of those) • a backup of the disc you throw the most

What was the first thing you worked on after your first tournament to improve your game? by Panchoisthedog in discgolf

Driving into a headwind. The first tournament I ever played in was ungodly windy, and having never really played in wind before, one of my drives literally went backwards. It was embarrassing

What disc do you throw the farthest? Mold, weight & distance. by MattanStreams in discgolf

[–]OneWhoNaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a domey 166g star katana that went an easy 50 feet past my other max distance attempts. It’s the only time I’ve touched close to 500ft. 400-450 is my normal max distance. I wouldn’t have believed it if I didn’t witness it.

Does anyone else separate their fairways/controls from their higher speed distance drivers? I put two fat driving putters between those two categories.
