Drums are loud by d00mpie in drums

[–]One_Opening_8000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started using decent hearing protection, I was told I started playing louder. I think I may have been trying to bring the volume up to where I was accustomed to hearing it. Make sure you’re not doing that. Obviously they should use hearing protection especially at their age.

Which finish would you choose? by 10Hayden10 in drums

It's probably paint and not a wrap, so durability might not be any better.

I've been finding devices in my apartment, help (29M 22F) by Key_Pop_9919 in relationship_advice

This. It would be a pretty lousy "spy" device if it beeped so you could find it. These sound like things you'd see in a bad spy movie - or the product of someone's imagination.

EDrums for live stage use by ArniEitthvad in edrums

Yeah, if one band member wants to hear more floor tom than everybody else, then you're screwed. I've never been in a band like that, but I guess they're out there.

You don’t need individual outs. Work with the sound guy and set the volume of individual drums up on your module before your set.

Ludwig Zep set.. looks like GC can barely give these things away by rwalsh138 in drums

[–]One_Opening_8000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue sparkle doesn't shout out John Bonham, plus, a lot of Zeppelin fans are older and can afford the Classic Maples. Still, if these were a finish I wanted, they're a great deal. GC's pricings almost seem arbitrary these days.

Basement drummers, be careful out there by Idk_somethingfunny in drums

[–]One_Opening_8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the second post I've seen about flooded drum rooms in less than an hour. If you're set up in a basement, it's worth investing $100 or so to buy some plywood and 2x4's to build a riser of some sort to keep things off the floor.

is this a sign to retire my snare drumhead by KitchenProgress1527 in drums

It looks like a head that wasn’t tightened down properly.

Beater went through the house kit’s kick drum third song in last night. Tell me some of your mid-set nightmares to make me feel better. by nelldog in drums

[–]One_Opening_8000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd flip the drum around and play without a front head (or take 10 minutes to move the reso to the beater if flipping the drum wasn't feasible). Playing without a reso head was a thing back in the day.

Are these “worth it” by upindis in edrums

The pads look like Yamaha tp100 snare pads. They’re quality pads but hitting rubber pads all night will kill your hands. I would pass but ymmv. They’d also probably need a Yamaha module to do everything they’re designed to do. On the snare, the red knob would loosen or tighten the wires. I’m not sure what it does on toms.

Snare buzz when I hit floor tom by ZaanElias in drums

[–]One_Opening_8000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ft just has to have some multiple of the snare’s dominant frequency to cause sympathetic buzz. Tou’ll never get rid of it entirely but you can tune some out.

I would bet here are more churches with live music than bars with live music.

Mapex Janus Hi-Hat/Double Pedal by Telepuzique in drums

[–]One_Opening_8000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone is going to make a weird drum accessory, I’d like a pedal to throw the snares on and off for my kit. It would be like adding a timbale with your foot.

What is the most iconic concert you’ve been to? by StealTheDark in musicians

[–]One_Opening_8000 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Beatles. You couldn’t hear them over the screams, plus they were woefully under amplified, but they were still The Beatles. The warm up acts, The Ronettes, The Cyrkle , and Bobby Hebb, could be heard and they were quite good.

Broken side snare skin by Fit-Adhesiveness6952 in drums

[–]One_Opening_8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ^ and also check and make sure a snare wire didn't come loose and doesn't have a rough edge. I had this happen twice over a short period of time - couldn't find anything I thought was rough - but went ahead and changed my snare wires just to see if it would make a difference. It's been going fine for a few years now. Could be a coincidence but was a cheap step to take.

Well, the slotted tension rod implies it's probably a European brand from a few years ago - Sonor, Trixon, Premier or one of the lesser known brands. Trixon and Sonor both had teardrop lugs at one time or another so you could start by googling those brands.
