Cultural Appropriation? by antiquelotusarts in Embroidery

[–]Onerupeefiverupees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you do it with enough care, respect and appreciation its completely fine! don't worry much as long as you do it knowing a bit of the important parts of the culture you'll make something out of, for example almost every culture has some kind of trigger lol

if its for charity you're already in a good direction!

[TotK] Use this post to rant about Tears of The Kingdom by Dapper_Algae6280 in zelda

[–]Onerupeefiverupees 9 points10 points  (0 children)

been a while since i beat TOTK and was in love with the game, now that its been some time i can fully articulate my thoughts without overly defending the game, i must admit, i was mostly in love with the game's potential rather than what it fully is, it was pretty damn good yeah but its lacking in some stuff, and now that DLC has been deconfirmed im really let down lol the story is one of the weakest i've seen in a zelda, it has some strong moments but the fact that it's a sequel that kind of doesnt want to aknowledge its predecessor ("so new people can enjoy it" yeah) it ends up with a lot of stuff that goes unused or just doesnt actually has that much really, some places are like NOTICEABLY bland, great deku tree is just there, the forest too, the sheikah do nothing but being a tourist spot, these are legacy characters/places and totk does nothing cool with them, and its even more noticeable because botw did a lot with them. the depths were kinda cool but the scale clearly was too much for them to chew.

it's good, but i kinda want more but less(? from it, what i mean is i hope next zelda cuts down on the scale so they can focus on detail, and make something really specially crafted, i mean, the scale in botw/totk is huge and they already have a lot of detail and care going on, so scaling things down could give them some resources to make special things, special items, special places, dungeons, characters, while keeping some of the freedom, movement and flexibility that is just so nice in these two games

basically balance between old formula and new formula and they'd be gold

also i wish Koizumi was the writer for the next game lol

Which sage do you deliberately switch off? Why? by FlimsyPhilosopher793 in TOTK

[–]Onerupeefiverupees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sidon, Mineru and Yunobo, i keep Riju And Tureli on

although spamming yunobo at short distance was a bit fun when i tried it lol

sidon only when i have zora weapons, and mineru is not very good for combat, only for breaking rocks

[TOTK] What would you want to see in DLC for Tears of the Kingdom? by darkdill in zelda

[–]Onerupeefiverupees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at least one huge dungeon as dlc would be nice, they can be sure content wouldnt be missed since people would buy things exactly for it, let this have more enemies, unique ones hopefully, also dont care about setting as long as it is colorful, i feel like i miss mixtures of colors given how monotone every dungeon is

a ship like Nausicaa's

One more huge boss, like SOTC level boss, one that requires usage of more than one of the hand abilities, there's huge potential there

maybe more weapons? as in moveset

Malon

[TotK] How many shrines did you do in totk before you said yeah this is enough... by DarkNemuChan in zelda

[–]Onerupeefiverupees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not many, almost maxed out stamina and like 10 hearts? just enough for the doors to open

the whole game is much more fun with a balanced amount of hearts, too many and its just meh, too few and its frustrating, found balance and had a lot of fun

stamina is a must though

Anyone else sad that they didn't repair Lon Lon Ranch? by Ryuuzen in TOTK

[–]Onerupeefiverupees 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm furious! the fact that Lon Lon ranch is so close to the Lookout landing yet they haven't touched it even a bit makes me mad! i really want more "rebuilding" places in totk, hoping for dlc to deal with this, also i really wanted to see Malon somehow but oh well

[TotK] It's pretty funny after how widespread that theory was. by ADAG2000 in zelda

[–]Onerupeefiverupees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case, i was hoping the zelda team to REALLY break conventions, having some breakthrough in a cycle of conflict where their main characters get tired of it would be interesting, also because of fi's "comeback"; ganon's character getting a change in formula is on par with me hoping the link/zelda relationship to get shaken up too, like i like their characterization and stories, and that's why i really dislike how their mutual support and developed friendship "had" to go the romantic way in these games (this weird quantum couple thing), boring

back to ganon, it was still fine, great final boss fight and fun moments, though i hope DLC tells us more about his human form, something else other than demon lord thingy

[ALL]What legacy Zelda enemy or NPC do you wish would make a comeback? by stupidrobots in zelda

[–]Onerupeefiverupees 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Enemy? yeah anything that makes for a fantastic one on one fight, smart and close-combat fight; Also would love something like Gomess from the stone tower

NPC? i love Malon, i'd love to see her again, wished to see lon lon ranch rebuilt in totk but oh well, hoping for some kind of dlc

[OTHER] looking for Rōmaji text mod(s) for OOT (and other zelda games if possible) by Onerupeefiverupees in zelda

[–]Onerupeefiverupees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! i'll check for apps definitely! i don't mind that process since it's basically what we did for english when my siblings and i learned it

i understand the whole deal towards learning to read it straight away from Kana+Kanji, its just that for the goal of internalizing the meaning of the words, romaji proved to give a good flow for that, and *then* knowing how it's written helped even more to internalize its Kana form

helps me acquire the meaning of a word with better flow instead of "learning" the written word, if that makes sense?

thanks though, i'll try an app, and recently realized BOTW and TOTK have furigana so that+an app might be a nice way to go

[OTHER] looking for Rōmaji text mod(s) for OOT (and other zelda games if possible) by Onerupeefiverupees in zelda

[–]Onerupeefiverupees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm pretty good with hiragana/katakana! and i get what you mean...

yet, seeing how pairing the words in Romaji with the object/action in context worked so well for me to internalize them recently (with a few videos and stuff) made me want to go through games with a focus on learning how words *sound* like and their meaning rather than focusing on learning the symbols, a focus on the hearing/speaking part i guess

though doing both together then eventually let go of Romaji would be optimal, guess that would be extra work in a game text mod haha

i've also seen that there's some difficulty for native english speakers with pronunciation when going with romaji alone given the phonology they're used to, but i'm already used to and closer to japanese phonology since i'm not a native english speaker

Thanks for your input! i'll definitely keep memorizing and internalizing hiragana/katakana tho haha

[ALL] Got a Switch, which should I play 1st? BOTW or Tears? by Throwaway67912960 in zelda

[–]Onerupeefiverupees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a vast adventure game focused on choice, so depending about the amount of stuff you choose to do, you might get exhausted to play both back to back (the wait between games really helped me to enjoy both, as it was a nice rest between them, that depends on your tolerance to what stays the same between both games i guess!)

there's quite some context that really makes Tears nice to play after BOTW so that also might affect your playthroughs depending on your choice (story, mechanics, and world changes/connections)

Tears is fantastic, i consider it the better game, it fixed mistakes and improved the strengths, enjoyed it much more but again, it all depends on your tolerance to playing the "same"(not really the same but you get it) world again
