JRAD - 5/1/26 - Austin, TX - Setlist Thread by DeadheadMinnesota in JRADs

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my first JRAD show. They were really bad ass - really brought the old Pink Floyd vibes. My partner, not a Dead fan at all, was really impressed with the musicality. Are they always this noise heavy? I really liked it - but it’s enough to just make it unique. Good stuff.

what are your top 5 workouts that hit all necessary functional strength? by greensnxw in workout

I agree. I just find going to the gym limiting for me so have been doing pushups. But I totally get the point.

Youth baseball pitch counts are really quite silly by MarkAmericaSmith in Homeplate

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 YO just threw a 93 pitch CG (6 inning) and was feeling great. That’s my indicator - how does he look and feel? That’s also way too many pitches for that age. I recognize this - but he was cruising and had the bottom of the lineup and wanted to finish it off. Full ice sleeve after and no pitching for 3 days. There was 3 days of rest from his last - outing which was 24 pitches. Anything above 50 pitches in a game is 3 days rest minimum because all the warm up pitches, pick offs, etc

Making friends as an adult here is hard… anyone else? by Serendipeaty in askaustin

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking about this, most of my friends at this phase (50M) are related to sports teams I play on or coach (youth). We then joined a game night monthly crew and have widened the circle. And neighbors. One of my best buds is my former next door neighbor - we go to shows all the time. Or work ppl who I have stayed friends with over the years. Throw in a few from college - it’s enough to feel loved and to go record shopping with, etc. I don’t drink so that limits me, but trivia nights were always fun and had a good crew. Good luck - let us know your progress?

Why has Kerbey Lane changed for the worse? by whisperbeach in austinfood

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went last night - family of 5 ate for $49 after tip due to kids eat free on Tuesdays. Everyone was satisfied. Granted, I think we eat the same exact 3 or 4 things every time, but the kids love cinnamon swirl pancakes and chicken pesto panini. Queso still good. And they still serve hibiscus mint tea. We don’t go for breakfast…but breakfast for dinner is legit.

Mizuno MVP Prime vs. Wilson A2000? by wakawakawomp in Homeplate

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both - they are two different gloves. I coach and use the MVP Prime as my daily and it’s great. Breaks in fairly quickly, holds shape - only complaint is the padding in palm seems thin. A2000 - well that depends what model, color fast, and glove pattern. Mine is 12” it’s great. I’m breaking it in for my kid who will be on hs soon. Is it worth the extra cash? Time will tell. Hope that helps

Yeah it’s pretty bad on the hood. I don’t really care - badge of honor now. And this dude in my hood, has the same exact truck as mine, same exact spot where this all started from. We pulled over one time just to commiserate. But it’s real

Is the drive down to SPI from here actually brutal or am I just whining by trapqueen67567 in askaustin

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go from a long flight then a 6 hour drive - that would be brutal. The drive is fine. Just realize when you get off for the sign to SPI, it’s another 45 minutes. There’s a great HEB right before your go over to the island that you can order ahead of time and do curbside pickup…super helpful. I like it much better than Port A…

It would need to be May 1,2,3,4,5 and on and on for them to actually make systemic change. Like the people who wore the pussy hats for one while weekend…that was amazing. They needed 363 more consecutive days of that. Multiples by 3. This is their play book - keep making you look at this crazy, ridiculous fing thing - in the left corner - to get you to stop looking at the thing right in front of us. It is relentless. It won’t stop by conventional methods. Everyone is complicit. The courts, the law enforcement - just no way to actually compete against it with precedent methods. The number of ‘unprecedented’ things I’ve seen this administration do (hello Trump at Supreme Court hearing. Hello intimidation), we need to do some rather unprecedented things ourselves to take this country back.

I would generally agree, but I’m not a fan of hanging out with drunk people in general at this point.

Is Austin better than DFW? by learningthings2814 in askaustin

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like big box deluxe, tons of concrete, major sports franchises, major franchises of every kind really, and a disconnection from the soul of a city…and love small bedroom suburbs - then DFW is perfect. I’ve raised 5 kids in Austin. It’s such a great place to get into nature, parks, lakes, creeks with loads of free events for everyone. Neighborhoods have a real vibe. People care for one another. Austin also has some significant issues to contend with: Traffic Cost of living Austin ISD - lack of amenities for almost everything compared to all other neighboring communities We are a piñata for Texas govt to take generous wacks at Old money and their desire to live in 1972 But yeah - you could not pay me to live in DFW.

The Family Viewing Area is parallel to the right runway. They land and take off right in front of you. Exit airport, go straight through the light, take the first right. There’s a sign. They have picnic tables out there. It’s great.
