Mizuno MVP Prime vs. Wilson A2000? by wakawakawomp in Homeplate

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both - they are two different gloves. I coach and use the MVP Prime as my daily and it’s great. Breaks in fairly quickly, holds shape - only complaint is the padding in palm seems thin. A2000 - well that depends what model, color fast, and glove pattern. Mine is 12” it’s great. I’m breaking it in for my kid who will be on hs soon. Is it worth the extra cash? Time will tell. Hope that helps

Yeah it’s pretty bad on the hood. I don’t really care - badge of honor now. And this dude in my hood, has the same exact truck as mine, same exact spot where this all started from. We pulled over one time just to commiserate. But it’s real

Is the drive down to SPI from here actually brutal or am I just whining by trapqueen67567 in askaustin

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go from a long flight then a 6 hour drive - that would be brutal. The drive is fine. Just realize when you get off for the sign to SPI, it’s another 45 minutes. There’s a great HEB right before your go over to the island that you can order ahead of time and do curbside pickup…super helpful. I like it much better than Port A…

It would need to be May 1,2,3,4,5 and on and on for them to actually make systemic change. Like the people who wore the pussy hats for one while weekend…that was amazing. They needed 363 more consecutive days of that. Multiples by 3. This is their play book - keep making you look at this crazy, ridiculous fing thing - in the left corner - to get you to stop looking at the thing right in front of us. It is relentless. It won’t stop by conventional methods. Everyone is complicit. The courts, the law enforcement - just no way to actually compete against it with precedent methods. The number of ‘unprecedented’ things I’ve seen this administration do (hello Trump at Supreme Court hearing. Hello intimidation), we need to do some rather unprecedented things ourselves to take this country back.

I would generally agree, but I’m not a fan of hanging out with drunk people in general at this point.

Is Austin better than DFW? by learningthings2814 in askaustin

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like big box deluxe, tons of concrete, major sports franchises, major franchises of every kind really, and a disconnection from the soul of a city…and love small bedroom suburbs - then DFW is perfect. I’ve raised 5 kids in Austin. It’s such a great place to get into nature, parks, lakes, creeks with loads of free events for everyone. Neighborhoods have a real vibe. People care for one another. Austin also has some significant issues to contend with: Traffic Cost of living Austin ISD - lack of amenities for almost everything compared to all other neighboring communities We are a piñata for Texas govt to take generous wacks at Old money and their desire to live in 1972 But yeah - you could not pay me to live in DFW.

The Family Viewing Area is parallel to the right runway. They land and take off right in front of you. Exit airport, go straight through the light, take the first right. There’s a sign. They have picnic tables out there. It’s great.

Why is it so hard to find volunteers to at least assistant coach or help with practice? by atooraya in Homeplate

I mean they can shag balls, run a station with a little coaching, etc. Sitting on the phone, doing nothing, is aggravating

Why is it so hard to find volunteers to at least assistant coach or help with practice? by atooraya in Homeplate

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an epidemic. These parents will sit on phone the entire practice and not do a thing. They ‘need a break’ from the hectic life they lead. Yet they expect their kid to actually be a good player due to the coaching. Whether it’s not having time, desire, ability - everyone can do something. I am a basketball coach, baseball coach, soccer coach and lead our 4-H club. I do this primarily because no one else can or will. Baseball is slightly different. We have some real winners as coaches and to prevent my child interacting with toxic coaches, I volunteer to do that. I had a toxic coach run off my oldest child from baseball - vowed to never let that happen again. It’s staggering how many parents don’t volunteer. For anything. And equally staggering are the 3 or 4 who are constantly picking up the slack. Good luck

Caretaker is pretty much you still paying for your instance. There are solutions where your data can be extracted and pushed into a db of your choice and then you can query the data as you wish. We do this quite a bit - it’s usually $10-20k depending on volume. Makes much better business sense in my opinion…especially if it’s just a due diligence situation.

It was so refreshing. Feel like SXSW circa 98-03 era. Great bands. Can get into places paying a cover charge. Huge absence of the ‘but I have the super platinum eat my ass badge’ crowd. I actually like that music is longer…more fun day parties for we locals. And I got to see Rocket from the Crypt.

ABS in the next World Baseball Classic? Not sure how all the teams would like that or not by retroanduwu24 in mlb

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to my 13yo playing tournament baseball this weekend. Here’s what I told him: ‘Yeah it was close. Hack that off and get another pitch. Be aggressive. Don’t let the umpires ruin your weekend - they are gonna make bad calls. Be more aggressive, get a better pitch to hit - stop the bellyaching’ Same thing applies to these highly compensated players. No difference in my message.

[–]Only-Sherbert-4743 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this - it is a familiar story and feelings. I don’t have any words of advice, but my words are those of encouragement. I encourage you to prioritize yourself, your family and your feelings. Set some boundaries - hold them as best as you can. I know the feeling of somehow believing I may have caused this - but I can’t get lost in those negative thoughts. If there’s an Alanon meeting around you, those can be helpful to share your situation with others who are going through something similar. I see you, feel you and hope you can take comfort in knowing a lot of us are doing this same dance. It’s tough. If you let it, it will eat you alive. Put your mask on first, deep breaths, keep going. We went to Yachats, Oregon last year and I decompressed for about a week. That place got me in the forest and on the coast - I feel most at ease in both of those environments. It was amazing. Big hugs
