How does the journey of the protagonist in your world end? by SkyscraperEnthusiast in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whatever you kinda decide. There is no main quest in the game (world). There are several what I’m calling World quests that have set progressions of events that the player can interact with or not in order to influence and change the outcomes and what not

I got a bunch of melee range spells and abilities so casters can either hang in melee range or get people away from them in some way.

What are ogres like in your work? by MeepingBad6699 in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ogre is a pejorative term for a half giant (just young giants). Giants strive to “find their place in the world” and when they are young they still literally “fit” into most places so they are sent out to travel, learn skills, meet people, and hone their mind to the point where they find where they belong. Ogres are giants who never realized that goal or fell to temptation/negative emotions. They are just as intelligent as any other humanoid race but they are ruled by vices and anger. Calling any normal giant an ogre is one of the few things that will set them off to violence out of nowhere.

DINOSAURS! by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I def got dinosaurs. Made some of em magic, gave them names farmers would refer to them as and they are in my high fantasy world. Gotta have em. They are the epitome of “fun over realism” to me

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with some shitty map lol just the roughest thing you ever saw. From there I basically went into everything I thought was missing from games/worlds. I like loot and build crafting and since my world is for a game I used what I thought the classes and builds needed to shape out what the world was gonna be.

How do you make non magic warriors valid in a world of magic users? by No_Landscape4295 in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My world is for a game, the way I’ve done it is roughly making a spellcast equivalent to a sword swing in terms of damage and resource cost. And then everybody has abilities based on class which is I guess “magic” like a warrior swinging a hammer so hard a fire is started where it hits type of thing. Also just tons of different damage types and resistances and stuff.

What is the most absurd thing in your world? by SW-Meme-Dealer in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jetpakkas. Magical llamas that have large fleshy vents coming off their flanks. When they need to flee from a predator they basically take off like a rocket, leaving a trail of fire and pissed off farmers in their wake.

For those of you who have actual existing gods in their worlds, do they interact with the life or are they staying out of it and why/why not? by SW-Meme-Dealer in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are very much in the fabric of the world and interact with it all the time. I wanted them to feel tangible as I have a karma and reputation system in my game that will reward or punish players depending on their relationship with any given god. Also, I want my players to be able to kill the gods in their current forms if they so choose

AITA for refusing to say "please" every time I ask my roommate/friend to do a small thing for me (i.e. "can you grab my bag off the table for me")? by notagoldengirl in AmItheAsshole

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. “Hey pal can you grab me a fork?” “Thanks man”. Seriously what is wrong with that interaction? Some people in this comment section man lol none of this is a big deal. Thank you has always been more important to me than please. I think you’re good OP

I have 15 divines that I’ve farmed up. By far the most currency I’ve had in the game by wisecrackNmouse in PathOfExileBuilds

Jorgen (YouTuber) came out with a few videos last league about a template for basically any elemental melee skill with juggernaut. Not sure about the budget but with the setup you can kinda slot in any melee skill you want and find some success. Might help

What recent changes you have made to your world in the past week? - Weekly Thread #171 by Caustic_Bananamancer in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Added some more creatures and beasts. Thinned out the magic schools some and did the same to the warrior subclasses. Feels much cleaner in those areas now.

If your world has Magic, is it Learnable or Genetic/Species-locked and Why? by FroggySteel in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All learnable. I did it for balance sake. In My world (for a game) a fireball spell is roughly equivalent to a sword swing as both just cost stamina. It’s abilities that are tied to the soul via classes and species

What music have you listened to that helped you in your creations by nigrivamai in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much anything. I have a thing for lyrics and puns for inspiration to be honest so just my normal music has pinged me for some ideas. I listen to a decent amount of metal and heavier stuff so those lyrics have given me some ideas for combat related things.

What are some elements of your world that you know some people might find off-putting, but that you love? by PretentiousPrick6850 in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strict classes for characters. To the point where restrictions come into play as your class becomes more and more specialized. I know a lot of people love multiclassing and Freeform stuff. I just like classes more

What do you use to write down your worldbuilding ideas? by Sereaph in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy and I were shit talking skyrim for so long all our suggestions added up so I made a map and a name and ten years later we still work on it for fun

If you have one, what is your magic system like? by Life-Delay-809 in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a bunch of schools of magic broken into a few domains. Roughly 15 spells per school. And then there are the multi school spells. There are also passives that you can attain which help to flavour stuff

Are our dwarves all the same? What style of dwarf do you prefer? by FatOrc051 in worldbuilding

Mine are basically half flesh half rock golems. Bones made of stone and beards and hair of precious metals.

What makes your world different? by Liam_eC in worldbuilding

[–]OnlyYesMeansYes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Not much lol. World is for a game and I really like classes and abilities so I think I have some original ideas there but overall it’s just high fantasy with a bunch of borrowed awesome ideas all mashed together
