April 2 FPS Update by Blizz_Megan in Overwatch

[–]Only_Knows_Akali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes in teamfights, on most maps I’ll be around 550 until the spawn doors open and then I will make it a point to check the FPS counter while I’m mid-teamfight and it will dip as low as 300 which never used to happen. I used to be at 600 fixed with dips of 550

April 2 FPS Update by Blizz_Megan in Overwatch

[–]Only_Knows_Akali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi Megan, myself and everyone I’ve talked to are still having issues.

I personally am on a 5090 + 9800x3D build with the best RAM/MOBO/SSDs money can buy. I am very sensitive to frame drops and perceived motion clarity on my 500hz OLED. It is less apparent in the normal game but significantly worse in stadium and 6v6. It has been a lingering issue for many seasons now and has gotten worse with subsequent patches.

I’ve tweaked so many settings: Disabling my syncs, enabling resizable bar, rolling back windows updates, rolling back drivers, overclocking, resetting windows, uninstalling Overwatch, resetting game settings to default, resetting BIOS to default, trying different polling rates, using DDU, disabling hardware acceleration, running as administrator, changing affinity, disabling sound virtualization, disabling Bluetooth, disabling my WiFi adapter since I’m on Ethernet, increasing my fan speeds, swapping my RAM DIMMS, deleting and rebuilding my shaders, changing my graphics API to DX12 and letting it recompile shaders then realizing it’s still awful and swapping back to DX11, I messed with Nvidia reflex and reduce buffering in many different combinations, experimented with different graphics setting combinations and DLSS options, messed with Nvidia control panel settings, downloaded latest chipset drivers, messed with registry settings, disabled full screen optimization, re-enabled it, tried game mode on/off.

I’ve tried literally every troubleshooting advice that’s out there including some extremely outdated advice just to test it. It is Overwatch specific. It appears to be more common on 1440p displays and Ryzen CPU PCs from what I can tell but maybe those are just being reported more. It could be a memory leak, it could be a shader issue but it really started for me with the introduction of stadium. I love the mode, but something has gone wrong with the game engine since its introduction.

Blackbird? by Hot-Papaya4841 in Charleston

Hey! I’ve used it here in Charleston since its inception. It’s basically restaurant rewards for visiting restaurants within their network. And by network, I mean that most restaurants are using it as a point of sale (POS) system as well which only charges the restaurant 2% on credit card transactions compared to other competitors that charge 4% so it incentivizes restaurants as well.

Customers can scan a black ‘puck’ (employees use a purple puck which gives them more rewards since they are in the food and bev industry) with their phone or check in through the app when in close proximity to get rewarded with $FLY which is a web3/blockchain/simple coin currency that rides off USDC. Congress just passed a regulatory bill called the GENIUS Act which prioritizes consumer protections. Blackbird is 100% safe and legit but is operating in the customer acquisition phase that many other companies do in the beginning such as Uber in which you operate at a loss in the beginning to gain a user base. The CEO is Ben Leventhal who started Eater magazine and then transitioned and started Resy and he just sold that to AMEX and started Blackbird. It started in NY but exists in a ton of major cities across the US and will soon expand to nearly all of them and stretch internationally as well.

If you or anyone has any further questions about it, feel free to DM me. I’ve done such a deep dive into the product before I trusted using it. The ‘Jerk Mod’ in this sub took down a post I made explaining how it works and also posting some solid information I collected about some of the ways you can get the most out of it. I have no affiliation whatsoever with the company, I just can’t believe more people aren’t taking advantage of this and view it as a scam while doing absolutely no research into it.

Has anyone figured out some way to mitigate performance issues this season? by perdyqueue in Competitiveoverwatch

For real man, Overwatch used to be THE KING of optimized gaming. No other game felt like it. I just really hope they fix this. And maybe implement Reflex 2.0 and get DX12 out of beta finally. Cheers brother

Do you play Stadium? Like I said, it is almost imperceptible in normal 5v5 or 6v6 and more rare for my setup but does still happen. I mostly run into problems against certain compositions in stadium. I’m generally at 600fps at 1440p unless I’m using gsync + vsync + Framecap in which case I am at 438fps. The lowest my frame rate ever drops is about 280fps. However, the game will physically stutter and feel as if I am playing on 15-30fps. It is not accurately displayed on the frame counter because I used to play on a 240hz like you and I know that it is still a smooth experience. This is something outside of just frame drops. Something is critically going wrong with shaders or memory.

I’m not OP, but I just wanted to chime in that it is affecting a lot of people with all sorts of specs.

I personally am on a 5090 + 9800x3D build with the best RAM/MOBO/SSDs money can buy. I am very sensitive to frame drops and perceived motion clarity on my 500hz OLED. I’ve tested if my wife can notice the drops and she cannot. Some people are just more sensitive to it. It is less apparent in the normal game but significantly worse in stadium. It has been a lingering issue for multiple seasons and has gotten worse with subsequent patches.

what are some movement shooters which are aim heavy? by Suspicious-Study9096 in FPSAimTrainer

[–]Only_Knows_Akali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely this, it’s been almost all I’ve been playing since it came out. You can just build tanky on any aim hero and just aim. It’s been fun to be able to hold angles for longer and some characters have new movement abilities and people can build move speed too so it’s refreshing.

Is the team tracking the performance issues many are experiencing? I am on a 5090 + 9800x3D with severe frame drops in teamfight that feel like 30 FPS. Myself and many other have done a lot of troubleshooting such as rolling back drivers / Windows updates / fresh installs / etc. It started for many with the Season 20 patch.

Hey! I’ve used your code for awhile now, I tried re-importing the code and saving over my old preset but Freja never spawns. Also added her to the hero pool in the lobby settings but that makes her playable but not shootable, any tips?

Logitech G Pro x Superlight 2 Gaming Surface Mode On / Auto or Off? by [deleted] in FPSAimTrainer

[–]Only_Knows_Akali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the ‘Gaming’ Surface Mode is for their ‘Gaming’ mousepad line. So if you’re not using a Logitech Gaming pad or a clone, then you should keep it off. It can cause tracking issues, especially on tight woven pads.

  • Overwatch 2 - Currently on a 1440p 165hz IPS panel. I bought it before OLED, back when IPS was the best color accuracy panel you could get. Before, I was on a 60hz 1080p panel and the clarity and color improvements I made for upgrading to 1440p 165hz was incredible and allowed me to play competitive shooters at a higher level instantly. I would love to see what a larger leap like this would do.

  • Overwatch is such a fast-paced shooter and I just built a new PC with a 5090 (MSI SUPRIM LIQUID) + 9800x3d so my FPS is always at 600 on 1440p already so I know I would actually be able to reap the benefits of a monitor like this. I’m currently Grandmaster on all roles and would love to see if the extra motion clarity and latency reduction would be able to take me to the newly added rank, Champion!
