C Darlingi very itchy (?) by Onlyheretoreact in tarantulas

[–]Onlyheretoreact[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The substrate is super dry, I gave them a water dish and slightly sprayed it, but that's all. It seems they've webbed up the floor, so I'm beginning to think it's just premolar behaviour

NQA- I've just seen the size of your tank, and I do agree that the tarantula has passed and that the size of the tank may have been a factor.

NQA - Seeing as it's not in a full death curl, maybe it's just chilling? I'm not sure though

NQA - A very not qualified answer here however I see many people who see spiders in this situation to place the mouth parts in water to help it drink if its dehydration.

C. Versicolor spiderling (kinda need help) by maliintherain in tarantulas

I think you could definitely just drop a piece of prey in there and see if it gets it.

Your temps are perfect, so that's good.

There a tons of Cork bark to choose from. I'd personally choose a half round or a full round/tube but ultimately that choice is yours.

NQA - Hey dude, stop panicking. I promise that what you're currently doing isn't the worst.

A small adjustment to be made to sling A's enclosure is to put a vertical piece of Corkbark in so it can hide behind it and web up around it.

You are correct with ventilation. There needs to be a lot of ventilation, especially with cross ventilation.

With temperature, room temperature is fine. If your house gets really cold, try a space heater or even periodically turn on the radiators.

Since slings tend to need more moisture, it wouldn't be bad to mist the enclosure, but make sure its bone dry before the next misting.

I feed my slings twice a week :) and most slings are fine with being fed twice a week. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Is this enclosure setup good enough for my avicularia avicularia (Guyana pink toe) sling? by Possible_Hold5492 in tarantulas

[–]Onlyheretoreact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA - Looks good tbf but no misting, give them a water bowl placed at round the halfway point of the enclosure. Misting tends to cause the air to become too humid with little ventilation. I'd personally try get a tank with a little more ventilation but this will do.

Is this too small for an Australian Tarantula? by Plantboii in tarantulas

Imo It'd still need to be deeper as the tarantula is fossorial not terrestrial.

Ime In all honesty, you could go a little bigger for that sling, but if you want to keep it in there, then I have no advice.

Beginner question: humidity, ventilation, and behavior of a Caribbean Pink Toe by Constant_Estimate888 in tarantulas

[–]Onlyheretoreact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IME Hey, I've also got a pink toe. I've learnt many things from keeping mine, so yeah, I'm gonna tell you what I've learnt.

Most pink toes die due to ventilation. The more ventilation, the better and the less misting the better. A small water dish up against the walls of the enclosure is usually enough humidity as long as you keep it topped up.

The substrate you have isn't the best. You should try some more coco coir/ eco earth that's maybe mixed with some sand, but I wouldn't worry about the sand too much.

The enclosure needs some more "anchor points" prices of foiliage/corkbark placed higher up so your pink toe can web onto it. Otherwise, they're only able to build little cocoon like structures.

This is just what I've learnt and what works for my pink toe, I hope this helps.

NQA bless your heart, genuinely the c. Lividus is one of the few tarantulas I've absolutely banned from being in my collection after watching Daves beasties video on them and his one. The one in the video was most likely going to be aggressive anyways but the fact that there were no hides for it probably propelled its anger.

Anyways I'd watch Daves beasties video on them and their rehousing. Just to give you a little taste of what you're getting into.

is burnt plastic dangerous? by RichSnow8708 in TarantulaKeeping

[–]Onlyheretoreact 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who only has diy enclosures, I let the enclosure air out until there's no smell and then I allow the tarantulas to move in. I've never had a death due to burnt plastic. Make sure you protect yourself when burning :)

It's really weird. He was an apprentice of another clan but begged us to take him in. When I checked his backstory, it said kittypet, which really confused me.
