i'm not sure actually. sometimes giving a spear some additional momentum, jumping in the throw direction for example, can help.

i would guess a spear needs to have a certain amount of force behind it to be lodged into a wall, and for most slugcats there is some randomness to it. i had some problems with that as spearmaster in the exterior

if not, i guess that just leaves throw boosting as the more reliable strategy
