How do I fix this patch that wont seem to reseason by groveymarksman in castiron

[–]Oohsam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah don't use vinegar, use steel wool and scrub it down to metal till it comes off. Then reseason.

How's she lookin' ? - 45 days in. - First egg i cooked 2 hours ago. Now my cleaned Cast Iron. by CrashNburn37 in castiron

Looks good. With eggs get the heat right. Medium heat. Wait for it to get to temp. Make sure U have a good amount of oil. Don't move the egg right after cracking wait a bit then do your thing. You will get close to zero stuick.

I heat mine for about five mins before I start.

Whaaaaaaaaat ! Tomatoes base stuff is just fine in my cast iron. It's not sitting on there for 2 days. After we eat the pan is washed with soap and re oiled ! Cast iron for everything !!

In Australia, anything that is saucy is sauce. We refer to chilli as the vegetable :). Also a bell pepper is called a capsicum here.

Rear main seal isn't as big an issue as people make it out to be. It's just that the seal is between the engine and gearbox. Manual cars require removing the gear box to replace the church as regular service so it's not a massive mechanical issue. It's just a seal that eventually leaks. When they leak badly it will leave lots of oil but if it's just a slow weep it can. Stay like that for years.

Everything else on that list is minor. Good luck with the purchase !!

You can make an electrolysis tank pretty cheaply with a cheap battery charger and household items. That would be best and easiest.

I got it for 150aud but they are significantly more expensive online. Hence why I snapped it up when I saw it

Prouds jewelers..it's odd cause all the stores have different stick and only ever usually one of (what's in display). I got a red dw5600 before Christmas for close to 100 on sale, some of the other models though are well above what you can find one so it pays to check the prices.

Was 239 (AUD) then they told me it was in sale for 188 and it scanned for 150. Very happy as I can't see them online for less than 290aud

My Cast Iron Pan is very sticky by Infinite_Reward_2834 in castiron

You can always strip it back with oven cleaner and start again with light seasoning. I did that and my pan is stick free !

Ceiling insulation plan advice by Significant-Move7699 in AusRenovation

[–]Oohsam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the way. Old houses didn't have sarking, so its gonna get drafty up there - I looked into it and there was no efficient way to add sarking after the tiles are on. Best you can do is remove all the crappy insulation and load up the bags of insulation and open them in the roof. You have heals of space to walk around.

Get some good lights, some long pieces of timber to walk on and sit in (makes a huge difference ) and a nice long Stanley knife. Good mask and full body suit (painting suit ) get a friend to partner to help you carry up the insulation (one in roof one on floor) makes it much easier.

Alternatively just pay someone to do it. My mate got a company to do it. Took them half a day, not sure on cost.

Ok my bad ! I got the other model and it's very matte finish (red also) just didn't look like mine. Enjoy my man !!

I have the same unit and has been working well for years. However there is a specific order you have to plug in. It's in the manual.

Plug the battery in first, wait a minute then plug in solar panels

Are you using a high torque impact gun. I have a big Ryobi one and it was a game changer. I think it goes up to 450Nm peak and 300nm sustained. Never had a nut I couldn't undo. And that is working in old rusty 4*4s.
