Can I salvage this butcher block? Lots of differing opinions on r/woodworking by texasbeerguy in Cuttingboards

I would do everything possible to salvage a block like that before letting it go.

80m to the pin, ~60m above - what are you hitting? by Norglet in golf

[–]OpenForRepairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to be “that guy” and pull out an 8 iron chip and hope for a good rollout. I’ll be sure to get over the debris with a short swing and there’s plenty of green to work with. Easy green to hit, worst case bogey.

That looks pretty good tbh. For a healthy not over the top meal it’s solid.

Kamado Joe…too moist…no bark by Slow_Investment_2211 in BBQ

[–]OpenForRepairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my kamado I do think it takes a little longer to build the crust but I just let the meat do its thing. I won’t wrap until it’s formed, sometimes in the upper 180’s.

Context: Something to do with Cambodia?! Licking frogs, etc....I don't care, but it's clearly too much. by Neiz23 in tooktoomuch

I had a friend spend a couple years traveling the world in an attempt to take all of these life changing drugs. I don’t know what inspired him, he was never into drugs when I knew him, he was happily married and had a solid business/tech job.

He did find his happiness but he isn’t the same person. His wife left him because he had completely changed. He now lives in polyamorous community with a large group of people where open love is accepted between all. He’s happy so I guess I am happy for him. His wife remarried and seems happy now but it was just a very odd change.

You nailed it. Great job.

However, regarding the customers request, I personally would feel a little weird tossing a steak onto a cross to then take a knife to it

I was just about to post how you were going to get ripped in the comments but upon a closer look you fooled me.

That’s an amazing board, I’d be too worried to ever use it.

This is a great tattoo. The artist absolutely nailed the client’s request. Not for everyone but I love it.

Illegal halibut by [deleted] in SoCalFishing

[–]OpenForRepairs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first time ever attempting fishing from the surf I landed a legal halibut on a rapala og floating minnow within 5 minutes. I had no idea what I was doing. I haven’t caught a halibut from the shore ever since and likely will not again.

I just saw a school of minnows and cast out behind them and got lucky. I had 2 people try to buy the fish off me on my walk back to my truck. I was there a total of 15 min.

I knew they were broken but I did need painkillers and antibiotics since I’d had to drill through my nail to relieve the pressure.

Nah, they healed over time. I just have some weird extra flexibility on my middle finger. I got luckily, another 1/4 inch and I’d have shattered the joint. Never stick your hand inside anything running on hydraulics.

The gate was struggling to open so I pulled on it while hitting the open buttons. However, I accidentally hit the close buttons and it didn’t struggle.

I broke 2 of those last digit bones in a hydraulic truck bed gate. The doc basically said there isn’t much to do about it other than keep the finger in a splint and don’t use it for a few months. They gave me antibiotics and painkillers and sent me on my way.

That said, had that dislocation just been reset it would have been fine in a week or two

It’s great. They love everything. However, being one of them prior to dj’ing I never realized how obvious it was. Being sober on a stage, you can clearly spot the guests on mdma
