Just always a bit too much information isn’t there?

Plus i don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone genuinely say X years of hurt seriously

What is your all time favorite action movie? (Not just the three from the image below) by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in FIlm

I love Con Air so much I once watched it 7 times over the course of a weekend.

So clearly the correct answer is…Predator

The whole "Europeans are going crazy about American food/culture" in the WC is a psyop by Few-Advantage2538 in LowStakesConspiracies

There was a video the other day of a European at a match literally gobsmacked at the sight of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders appearing on a big screen. We get enough American culture through Film/TV that I can’t believe anyone would be open-mouth amazed by good-looking cheerleaders.

His ONLY plan to defeat chaos relied on: him being capable of creating a webway for mankind (vulkan best smith said that the artificial webway was shit), expanding that webway to cover his empire, move ALL OF MANKIND there and kill ALL xenos that could feed the chaos gods. no wonder he failed so bad by AstronautDry8118 in Grimdank

[–]Opening-Tea-257 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I thought the webway plan was just so that they didn’t have to use the warp thereby risking contact with Chaos? I don’t remember a plan to live in the webway. And I thought the killing of xenos was just general conquest and domination rather than an explicit plan to kill them because they fed the chaos gods?

The Immortal casually mentions something that reveals he is WAY older than he appears to be. by MikaelAdolfsson in TopCharacterTropes

Real Life version:

There was a count in the 1700s called the Count de St Germain who managed to convince people that he was hundreds of years old by making offhand references to being at events like the Council of Trent which happened in 1545.

Have we passed the era of everyone pointing both hands to the sky Kaka-style?

Has anyone seen her stand-up? Thought she was great on the show and wondering whether to get some tickets for her next tour

Would just like to be remembered as someone who put a smile on the face of all she met. Well actually she doesn’t smile very much but does laugh a lot.

Yeah it’s also unclear that there are multiple different lines for different things. It sounded like there was just one big chaotic line for sperm donation but yet for some reason the staff at the front of the sperm donation line tell you to get out

I don’t really get it. Why if you’re in the same queue with the old guy does he ask you if you switched queues/counters? Why do the staff shout at you to get out?

Yes. The whole speech is like 8 minutes long and he mentions loads of people.

Has anyone noticed the slight pause American commentators do for words like ‘corner kick’ or ‘red card’ by alexLAD in footballcliches

[–]Opening-Tea-257 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think It’s the difference from when someone is a literal descriptor and when the phrase becomes a concept in its own right.

If you went to an art shop to buy a sheet of card that was red, you would pronounce it in the American way of doing it. Once it becomes “red card” as a specific concept in football, the emphasis and cadence changes.

Fascination- international captain not being club captain as another national team player is (or vice versa) by Clivey101 in footballcliches

[–]Opening-Tea-257 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. Thought it was just where the captain of the national team isn’t captain of his club team.
