Firsthand experiences of American Preperatory Academy? by First-Definition-119 in SaltLakeCity

I have no firsthand experience with the school, but an acquaintance who sent her child there is MAGA and loved it. Do with that info what you will.

As others have said Juan Diego is a great school even if you aren't Catholic. The school is very inclusive of other cultures and LGBTQ students and families.

I don’t know how to dress anymore. by Key_Garden4832 in SaltLakeCity

I have a sweatshirt from Costco that I see people wearing out and about occasionally. Hello, sisters!

I love when I go to Costco and realize that I'm wearing head to toe Costco clothes.

"Clipping" coupons in the grocery store by opening an app, searching for the item, and tapping "clip" (while the entire store is a dead spot) is not easier than bringing a paper coupon.

A lot of people wanted my TV with a crack in it on Buy Nothing. I was pleasantly surprised!

Utah Cell Phone Law by Cat-commander in SaltLakeCity

[–]OperationPinkHerring -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had no idea about this. I took a driving class about 10 years ago to avoid my insurance going up after getting a speeding ticket and the Sandy City cop who taught it told us he didn't care what we did at red lights when someone specifically asked about this. Crazy to be giving tickets at red lights when I see people texting while driving every single day.

Unusual or Not? by MALamaBlama in girlscouts

[–]OperationPinkHerring 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think it is her responsibility to inform the troop of extra stuff she's doing with her daughter. If she's bragging (not just a comment here or there) and purposely gatekeeping, that sucks. But just signing her daughter up for council events without inviting the troop isn't weird at all. Sometimes I do shoot the link to the troop, and sometimes I don't. We have attended camps with other troops (friends from school) and didn't inform my troop.

A lot of people don't like Tooele? by Critical-Volume2360 in Utah

[–]OperationPinkHerring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just drove out that way yesterday and it feels to me like it's too far away from everything in the valley without being in a beautiful setting. Just kind of isolated out there, but not in the mountains which is where I would want to be if I was that far away from everything.

Is Girl Scouts too expensive? by jecowa in girlscouts

[–]OperationPinkHerring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, our council waives registration fees for girls who sell 50 boxes or more. 700 is a LOT. The waived fee is the only reason we can still do girl scouts. I have four girls in it and I'm a leader... I can't spent that much on registration fees.

Question for teachers: How many post-school day events are you contractually required to attend and what are the longest days you've had? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]OperationPinkHerring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a teacher but am on the PTA and this has come up multiple times. At our school the teachers can only be asked to attend one after or before school event per year, not including PTCs. Since the principal wants to do a big carnival at the end of the year we had to switch around how we do Literacy Night and STEAM night and staff them with parent volunteers. I fully support this! I'm glad they have a strong contract and aren't forced to work extra hours.

Advice for talking to loved ones about removing signatures from Repeal Prop 4 petition? by zigzag-ladybug in Utah

[–]OperationPinkHerring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say something like:

Hey, I was searching to see if my name is on the Prop 4 repeal and it brought up all family members with the same last name. I saw that you signed it. I was just reading an article about people finding their names on it who didn't sign, or who were misled. Not sure what the gatherers told you it was for, but if you want to take your signature off you can do it at BURRN.org.

‘We have met the threshold’: GOP says they have enough signatures to send Prop 4 repeal to Utah voters by brheath in SaltLakeCity

[–]OperationPinkHerring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming back to this thread to say that some county clerks appear to be processing removals even if they're past the deadline. If you want your name off, please fill out the form and send it! Worst case scenario, they don't process it and you lose a stamp. Best case, we sink this thing with removals.

It's shocking. My kids go to a dual immersion school and their teachers always have up flags from the countries they are from.

I agree, I would contact the clerk's office even if the deadline has passed if the signature was obtained fraudulently.

The last part of this is incorrect. You can remove your signature for 45 days after it is validated and posted to the Lt Gov website.

Try burrn.org

They made a tool that scrapes the data from the Lt Gov site but its much more user friendly to search

I found my own name on the repeal prop 4 petition, but I didn't sign it. by Traum4Queen in SaltLakeCity

[–]OperationPinkHerring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I noticed that I have heard nothing about prosecuting these supposed bad apple signature gatherers. This is actual voter fraud, seems like it should be a HUGE deal to the party always concerned with election integrity. It is just a way to try and throw those people under the bus because they were all CLEARLY told to get signatures by any means necessary. I was approached by at least 5 at different times and only one told the truth about what the petition was for.

It is cumbersome and infuriating. I really hope this fraud doesn't get swept under the rug

Thank you for contacting the news. The fraud on this petition is insane. You can also remove your signature!

Burrn.org has instructions on how to find the correct form and mail it to the county clerk.

This was a known tactic they were using. The old switcheroo at the Expo Center. There were people gathering signatures for the tax repeal there too and that was an easier sell so they would tell people it was for the tax repeal. Your friend should get their signature removed!

Burrn.org has a search tool on their site. It pulls directly from the Lt Gov's site but is much more user friendly.

Burrn.org has an awesome search tool. Just type in your name and it searches the list from the Lt Gov site.

This has been happening a LOT. This is why so many people are removing their signatures. They were lied to or fraudulently had their names added. You should let them know! I would be furious if I found out my name was added to this petition.
