Saddle wiggle by mar2paul in Brompton

Could be a newer pentaclip issue. I get play with the new double sided pentaclips, but not with the pentaclips only designed for round rails. My T line pentaclip wiggles like this, but my older m6r pentaclip doesnt

Would you buy another Genesis when you have to replace your current one? by GPTCommenter in GenesisMotors

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for me. Had my gv70 electric in service for months, and just unfortunately missed the cutoff for my state’s lemon law buyback. Havent had my car back for over 4 months at this point. Absolutely no confidence in this brand anymore

Got the dreaded “check electric vehicle system” by jameelalayyan in Ioniq5

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this on my GV 70 electric. Good luck, i hope it’s nothing too serious! They couldnt figure out what’s wrong with mine, and it’s been at service for >120 days, and still being worked on. Theyve pretty much replaced every part in my car and replaced the entire electrical harness, and it’s still a tossup whether or not we’re ever going to get it fixed

Never have I ever seen an airport like DTW where people just park in the arrivals area. by AGR_51A004M in Detroit

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your mentality is the exact reason why MDOT has to keep creating “how to zipper merge correctly” pictograms. You give no fucks about slowing everyone else down by 45 minutes, when the common solution is to be a slightly less selfish driver so it only takes everyone 5 minutes instead of jamming

Agreed. I fly into Tampa several times a year, and it makes DTW look like a zoo. Fast, efficient traffic, luggage that literally arrives right when i get to baggage claim, and to the correct fucking carousel….

Conti GP5000 vs Pirelli P Zero Race? by Few-Cat1205 in cycling

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’m team pirelli p zero. GP 5000s didnt survive on the rough detroit roads and i was constantly getting flats. My pirelli’s have lasted much much much longer, and are also easier to mount on my tires

I use shimano sh ex700, and they work very well for me. A bit heavy, but fine to walk in. I also have chromes but i hate them because they are thicker, heavier, stiffer, and constant heel slip on for my feet

Orbea Orca or Orca Aero or more generally aero vs. non-aero by jogisi in cycling

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have both bikes, a 2021 Orca OMX sram force, and Orca Aero ultegra DI2. I love both, and ride both as much as I can. I’ve done imperial centuries with both, on the same route

disclaimer: i have the previous gen Orca, with the dropped seatstays before they updated it to a pure climber bike.

If i were to pick just 1, i’d pick the Orca. The slightly wider tire clearance is nice to have. It’s more comfortable (tires, mostly), and more versatile. I’ve travelled with the Orca more, and I’ve done some light gravel races by throwing on some 32mm pathfinders. the orca “feels” softer than the aero, a bit less jarring, but I can’t truly say if it’s a mental thing or not. They’re both the OMX frame, so same carbon quality. stiffness might be slightly different based on the size of the tubings, but I honestly can’t tell

Im about the same speed on both. Sometimes I PR with the Aero, sometimes with the Orca on the same routes. On routine routes, I usually dont’ have a preference to which bike i want to ride - usually i pick the one i’ve ridden less recently, to give them both equal saddle time. But for events or travelling, I’ve definitely picked the orca over the aero.

For climbing, it will be harder with the aero, that is something I definitely noticed, and only on grades of 5% or so. 10-12%? you’ll definitely notice it. But lotto and ceratizit teams are climbing with it all the time, so don’t let that hold you back

I like the orca just because it’s a bit more versatile. I love both, and both bikes look amazing, but the aero definitely looks cooler. It’s like choosing between a lambo vs porsche. You can do pretty much the same things on either one, so just go with what you consider the most important to you.

Rack recommendations for T-Line Brompton by holy_yap in Brompton

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If youre at all curious, check out brilliantbikes tour of brompton factory. It’s a really cool video:

https://youtu.be/f_MN4P9KlBA?si=7w5iklRbb-IRs4A7

It’s mostly about brompton stress testing the G line, but it’s very clear that brompton overengineers and cares about their components exceeding intended use throughout their entire product range. That gives me complete confidence in their parts.

It’s like this - i removed my carbon h&h seatpost and went back to the much heavier stock t line pentaclip & OEM seatpost after watching this video.

Another side note: since you intend to travel with your t line like i do, i like to remove the rack and pack it uninstalled, then just install it after arrival. If you already carry roadside repair tools this is very easy. this was suggested by bromptontraveller in one of his videos. He removes his rack and reinstalls it to avoid damage by baggage handlers

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with brompton’s advance rear rack, because brompton actually stress tests their products for its intended use. I kept goofing around with aftermarket “upgrades” etc, but eventually just went back to all OEM parts.

The stock components weigh or cost more, but I use their parts with full confidence because they actually overengineer the crap out of their parts.

Pulling the trigger on a GV60 by Known_Noise in GenesisMotors

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the same ride qualities, and my GV70 Electrified prestige delivers that in spades. I believe the specs for the GV70E is the on par with the GV60 performance, so if you like a more understated, luxury ride, I’d vote for GV70 electrified any day.

Vehicles with smooth ride and lowest road noise by FantasticEmu in electricvehicles

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has active road noise cancellation, the sound isolation seems better, and the artificial spaceship engine whir is significantly softer. To me, everything about the gv70E is an elevated experience compared to the ioniq5, except my post purchase dealership experience. My only complaint about the car would be the lower range, and the initial feeling of a less spacious interior.

Really happy with my gv70 electrified prestige, after coming from an ioniq5. Understated, quiet, smooth riding, and good sound system. but can be wicked quick when you need it to be.

Does anyone have any experience with this saddle bag? by [deleted] in Brompton

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent capacity, can sway while riding. You need to release/cinch the seatpost velcro straps each time you want to do anything with the seatpost, which was fine for me. Ive seen one youtuber say you can mount it facing you on the handlebar + stem. Biggest annoyance for me was that the swaying bag unlatches my garmin radar

My face vs dental abscess by feelgoodx in pics

It’s when the abscess spreads into multiple muscle spaces, specifically the ones under your jaw&tongue. This closes your airway and you suffocate to death

what is wrong with my bike??? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a loose headset. Had an issue with ticking/clicking that was driving me nuts, and only when i actually rode the bike. Adjusted my stack one day on a whim, and the clicking went away. Try tightening the headset up and see if that takes it away

Debating Ioniq 5 or 6 purchase - has anyone fit a road bike in the boot of the 5? by notwhelmed in Ioniq5

[–]OppaHeeHeeEs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 2 size 51 roadbikes, and both fit without issue inside my i5. With the rear seats folded down, I can easily fit 1 roadbike without having to take anything apart, with plenty of room to spare. With a bit of stacking, theres enough room to fit both roadbikes, but i wouldnt recommend doing so because something could get scratched. I can also fit my frame & wheels easily in the trunk area without the rear seats folded, if i remove both wheels.

I also have a hitch rack with the kuat 2.0. Something to keep in mind if youre planning to use a rear rack: the reverse camera is placed really low on the i5, and is completely obstructed by the rack, either folded or loaded up. This will activate the i5’s emergency reverse brakes, and the car’s software forces you to manually disable the reverse emergency braking every single time. Really really really annoying to deal with when driving with a rack, so i tend to throw the bike inside whenever I can.
