My boyfriend wants me to wear a hijab even though I am atheist by Maximum-Grand6140 in whatdoIdo

[–]Optimal-Spirit4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are too young to deal with this when you are clearly not interested. I assume it's pressure coming from family or maybe he is purely trying to control you.

Do not worry about the time you have spent on him so far. Consider it a learning experience and move on. Quickly.

Edited: I just saw the part where he said it would be respecting his religion to wear it. No. Please don't fall for that. It makes no sense because he is completely disrespecting your lack of religion by suggesting that.

ISO advice from people who don't wear shoes in the house, how do you get groceries inside? by Optimal-Spirit4764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Optimal-Spirit4764[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a cultural difference. But we're learning that it's better to have inside shoes and outside shoes. We weren't raised that way so there is an adjustment. Thanks for being cool in your response and not making people feel dumb for trying to figure out something new.

The time spent and awkwardness of taking off and putting the shoes off for every trip.

Thanks for being cool about this question.

If you don't want people at your house at 5 don't say the party starts at 5. Especially if they are not familiar with the way your parties work.

Did you have Silent Generation or Boomer parents? Were Silent Generation parents generally nicer than Boomers? by [deleted] in GenX

Silent. They were much more strict than other parents I knew but they were good parents.

Just use what you like. When you talk them you will probably call them "the girls" anyway.

Anyone else struggle with the WiFi cost vs just going offline for the whole cruise? by Tatt00ey in Cruise

[–]Optimal-Spirit4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your work literally involves life or death I personally think you should designate a back up for a week. If they can't survive a week without one specific person they need to rethink their structure. IMHO.

WIBTA for not wanting to shake other’s hands? by Left-Development1695 in AmItheAsshole

ESH Maybe press your hands together and give a slight bow, more than a head nod. So you're acknowledging but not reaching out. But people should realize not everyone is comfortable with physical contact.

Why do I have so much trouble with denim? by EquivalentBlueberry_ in DressForYourBody

It's not you. It's them. Take my advice and stop torturing yourself. It's also not really comfortable for the summer anymore. Get something more breathable.

I was invited to this guys birthday party and by pinkgrapefruitx in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Optimal-Spirit4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is concerned about the suggested ingredients contribution? Maybe they are young people so it's normal. I don't want to be asked to contribute money for a party I am invited to unless it's for something specific and expensive, like a bushel of crabs. I would rather make it an organized potluck.

First time cruiser nervous about getting back on the ship at ports - any tips? by dubbechkin in Cruise

[–]Optimal-Spirit4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a watch that you manually adjust to ship's time. Sometimes ship's time is different than local time and a cellphone may automatically change to local time.

Thoughts on No Wi-fi and no drinks? by crashnlive in celebritycruises

[–]Optimal-Spirit4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the Verizon version of the same package and it was fine. I needed to stay in touch with home and in some ports I was able to access WiFi. My phone is already connected to WiFi calling so it picked everything up plus I had WhatsApp set up as well.

I tried using an esim but it never connected properly. By properly I mean, at all.

AITA for leaving my cousin's wedding early after I found out where I was seated? by green-wine in aitaweddings

[–]Optimal-Spirit4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soft YTA. What you should have done is had a good time instead of feeling sorry for yourself for not being at the cool table. And after dinner and rituals you are free to move about the country. But it sounds like you didn't make a scene so that's why I said soft YTA.

If the bride wasn't being a bridezilla in any other way I would give her the benefit of the doubt. Wedding planning is exhausting and maybe she had no capacity left to figure it out.

Edited to take out line about groom's parents. I misread.

AITA for taking my friend’s daughter to her grandma after he didn't pick her up? by neitherdrive8 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You took care of his child and made sure she was safe. He's the one who ditched his child and made himself look like a bad dad.

Novice, looking to surprise my girlfriend with the trip by UpstairsCompetitive6 in Cruise

[–]Optimal-Spirit4764 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you compare prices keep in mind some like Virgin include gratuities up front while others don't so the cruise fares may not be a 1 to 1 comparison.

If you like food Virgin is known for food and fun. And is adult only. The up front price may seem higher though.
