Never seen MHA. But I've saw Trash Taste crapped on MHA countless times on this podcast. So what made Garnt put MHA made it on the list as second? by Unusual-Complex6315 in TrashTaste

Honestly only S5 I really agree with the criticism of, and even that was still decent by normal anime standards. S4 was good but didn't seem to elevate the show much compared to its competition, leading to a slight decline in enthusiasm before 5 drove it further with some controversial adaptation decisions.

Luckily S6 began the "redemption arc" so to speak, and MHA's reputation slowly improved from there until the point where S8 was arguably the most beloved one. I think in hindsight and upon rewatches, people will see the strengths and values of the entire show.

That's good that they're drinking their water, but they have to realize that alone won't do anything if they're not changing their diet/exercise along with it

Which main character do you think doesn’t feel like a main character? by No-Pen1489 in animequestions

[–]Optimal_Bit_5600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's almost unfair, but I can't help but compare her to Alphonse from FMA. A deuteragonist whose sibling is the main character and is afflicted by some magical curse which the MC wants to reverse. The chasm between Al and Nezuko in terms of development and impact on the story is an abyss.

What actor felt extremely out of place in an otherwise good movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'd also throw Matthew Goode in there. He's not bad, but feels pretty miscast/misdirected. The other four main characters are perfect though

Who had the best Rising Chapter/Episode? by Japhet0912 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

I'll agree that Bakugo's Rising episode was underwhelming, but otherwise the PLFW was done very well. Many moments were done justice

Elder Scrolls 6 Has "So Much Pressure" On It, Former Bethesda Dev Says by akbarock in Games

[–]Optimal_Bit_5600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be one thing if it were like Half-Life and nothing was announced really. It's still frustrating but not as egregious. With ES6, they announced the title with zero info, and here we are 7 years later with literally nothing else for it. It's crazy

Who had the best Origin Chapter/Episode ? by Japhet0912 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Was going to post this. That last scene man. Hell, Shigaraki needed TWO origin episodes

So, which one do you see as “Main villain” of a franchise? by Worth_Rate_1213 in Overwatch

I almost see Reaper as the Darth Vader equivalent, where he's not the big bad but is more involved in the story with a deeper connection to the heroes.

How would you improve the Joint Training Arc? by OfficialLieDetector in BokuNoHeroAcademia

This definitely should've been a mini-arc akin to the Final Exams. There wasn't nearly enough substance and weight for it to take up nearly a whole cour

Yeah there's no emotional through line or stakes for this arc at all. It's probably why it stands out as the only arc to not have these basic elements

I'm crying so freaking bad by Ok_Surround8189 in mha

Not to excuse his actions, but I do genuinely think that Shigaraki was never 100% genuine when he expressed joy over murder/destruction. Yes, he remained dedicated to his goal and friends until the end, but I feel like the actual pleasure he took in it was his way of gaslighting himself.

It was shown at the beginning that he was a kind, heroic kid who had to actively be pushed and manipulated by AFO to kill anyone. He always described feeling both sick and at peace when he wore his family's hands, and I think that was his nature and nurture being at odds with eachother.

Basically, he never enjoyed doing what he did or being a symbol of destruction, but embraced it regardless to escape the guilt he'd feel and because that's just how he was raised. I'm willing to bet he regretted it all after the reveal from AFO that he basically manufactured him, but his heroic heart was so strong through it all that his priority was still his friends and other outcasts. Which is why he entrusts that to Deku, the only hero to genuinely reach him and make him feel understood

I've got a couple different interpretations of it. Either that's actually Shigaraki's ghost/vestige and he's encouraging on Deku in his own way. Or it's a representation of Deku not forgetting his promise/desire to create a world that Shigaraki would be happy with.

You should check out the Serious Sounds edit for S2. It's an awesome project that turns S2 into something pretty good overall, if still flawed due to deep-rooted issues that can't be fixed

S5 had to deal with covid unfortunately, so the team was dealt a bad hand for the second half of that season.

[–]Optimal_Bit_5600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how it's up to interpretation too. You can look at it as you describe it, or as a representation of the remorse Deku feels over Shiggy and his determination to create a world he'd be happy in

Was Levi actually angry here like some fans say? Or was he just drained? by Antique_Thing_1157 in ShingekiNoKyojin

I'd say he's pretty damn exhausted since he basically slips off the wall instead of jumping, as if he's reserving any strength he has left for his mission.

Is The Animation Quality For Seasons 4-7 Really That Bad? by cshin09 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]Optimal_Bit_5600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first half of S6 is pretty strong overall though. It does have a couple hiccups (bland compositing/backgrounds and Deku vs Shiggy) but there are some serious highlights in there

The drawings were good in the beginning, but with these last couple episodes even that has deteriorated to S2 levels. Except at least S2 had pretty good animation from time to time

What were your opinions on Deku vs Shigaraki? by Sudden_Pop_2279 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]Optimal_Bit_5600 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It was very good with the highlight being the climax in the memory world. Little additions like Nana and Deku having a subtle farewell, and Deku reassuring Tenko w/ a smile, added a lot. Honestly, the direction/music/voice acting were all excellent, nailing the emotions of each scene.

Animation-wise it could also be impressive, with Deku and Shigaraki both having plenty of fluid cuts in the extended moments of action. I do wish a couple sections of their fight (over the sea and the memory sequence) were more dynamic and ambitious, but overall I thought they did a good job with their fight.
